Well if it is Allardyce and maybe Shakespeare then Walsh will have gotten his way so maybe he will stay. Not a great combination I would think. Ed002, have always valued your input, what do you think about this possible team?

BlueMike76

{Ed002's Note - if it is going to happen there will likely need to be a two and a half year contract, and that might well be a sticking point. But I would trust SA to get the defence organised and get Everton out of their immediate trouble. He is also a strong character and more of a manager who does some coaching so should be able to hold his own. If he does arrive then I would expect CA to come in as head coach. SA will also want to sort the squad out a bit in January.}

1.) 27 Nov 2017 18:25:13
Ed002 - I agree with your comments. By the way, do you mean CS rather than CA as head coach?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

2.) 27 Nov 2017 18:26:28
Thanks Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome Mike.}

3.) 27 Nov 2017 18:27:00
If we are going down that route would 100% rather go with Shaun Dyche he shown he can build a team and also plan for the future with him spending incoming transfer money on the academy he fits the job more than Big Sam and would rather pay big money for him now rather than pay Big Sam a fair few million in 12 months.

{Ed002's Note - I agree but Burnley will not want to lose their manager part way in to the season.}

4.) 27 Nov 2017 18:38:33
Agreed ed I cannot believe it has come to this ed it’s a real shock and am sorbto say that fans need to take some blame too we forced them into sacking Martinez and it was going the same way with koeman. The club needed time to challenge the top 6 create some foundations then build on them. But now look at us running round like our defence off the pitch no cue and no direction if we do appoint Big Sam we can expect Steve Walsh to stay in his dof role as it’s been stated for The 5 weeks Big Sam is his choice.

5.) 27 Nov 2017 18:56:21
It will be interesting to see what he does with a bigger budget. can't think of another club where he'd have been backed as much?

6.) 27 Nov 2017 18:58:05
If Everton were really interested in Dyche - and if reports of his “compensation amount” were correct - then surely he’d have been appointed as manager weeks ago. I can only imagine that our chairman or major shareholder or a “recruitment advisor” has decided that Dyche is absolutely not the man for the Everton manager’s position - but what that reason could be is a complete mystery to me.

7.) 27 Nov 2017 19:03:15
Not even Palace took Dyche on. Something not right.

8.) 27 Nov 2017 21:59:25
Don’t forget Walsh and Shakespear were vital to Leicester winning the prem 2 seasons ago doing the jobs there good at.

15 Nov 2017 15:17:24
Regardless of all this talk about a new Manager we have a very important game coming up this week-end against Palace. I thought they looked pretty good against Spurs so it is not going to be a walk over regardless of their position in the league. Even if we appoint a new Manager this week he will not have sufficient time to impact this game so it is Unsworth's team regardless. Let's hope that he picks a team that can stop conceding two goals per game which IMHO means no Williams or Schneiderlin.

BlueMike76

1.) 15 Nov 2017 18:01:53
I’d like to see a team that can attack and defend, Palace are poor and have a fraud of a manager but Zaha is dangerous

Agreed that Williams should be kept as far away from the team (and the fridge) as possible

Pickford
Holgate
Keane
Jagielka
Davies
Gueye
Vlasic
Sigurdsson
Lookman
Calvert-Lewin
Niasse.

2.) 15 Nov 2017 19:34:52
Whos the right back?

3.) 15 Nov 2017 20:13:10
Or more, who's the left back?

4.) 15 Nov 2017 21:19:41
Pretty novel team Swan. A 1-3-2-3-2 set-up. Just hope that Vlasic and Lookman can come back to defend.

5.) 15 Nov 2017 22:37:00
3 at the back with Davies and Gueye splitting into the full back roles like Barry and McCarthy in Martinez’s first season, Sigurdsson in the middle with those 2 but a bit further forward with Vlasic on the right and Lookman on the left, need pace, sick of our team having no pace.

6.) 16 Nov 2017 09:22:48
Pickford

Kenny
Keane
Jagielka
Baines

Vlasic
Gueye
Davies
Lookman

Sigurdson

Calvert-Lewin

I would be telling all the players they are all playing for their places/ future and would say only Pickford is safe.
Kenny - Coleman back soon
Keane - needs to settle into team and has been unfortunate to come at a time of turmoil.
Jags and Baines are both top professionals but are coming towards the end of their careers and being pushed from Holgate, Mori. LB needs looking at for next season.
Gueye and Davies - Benni looks quality, sneiderlin is quality but needs to sort his head out before coming back to first team. McCarthy still has a part to play.
Lookman and Vlasic - Bolasie on his way back, Mirallas has wrong attitude and has to go. Lennon is ok squad player.
Sigurdsson - has Klassen, Barkley to come back, Rooney and Dowell so lots of competition there.
Calvert Lewin - Niasse? Sandro? (Would like to see him settle into premier league but like Keane unfortunately bad timing for him. Also got Nigerian lad coming in January.

Quite clear to see that Striker is the weakness in quality and depth. For this season anyway, another CB and LB and winger for next season though.

7.) 16 Nov 2017 09:43:08
we don't need another winger.

8.) 16 Nov 2017 10:53:35
If Mirallas moves on, which he should we are only left with Bolasie, Lookman and Vlasic. Lennon is squad player at best I agree it’s not priority but if we have ambitions to be top four we need 2 quality players for every position to compete.
Good news though I think Calvert-Lewin is good enough to be the other striker and kick on. So realistically one big purchase of a top striker will see everything else click into place. If and big IF we put Lukaku into that squad we would be talking top four.
Pickford
Coleman
Keane
Jagielka
Baines
Vlasic/ Lookman
Gueye
Davies/ Benni/ Sneiderlin
Bolasie

Sigurdsson/ Barkley/ Klassen/ Rooney/ Dowell
Lukaku/ Calvert-Lewin/ Onyekuru.

Great comeback today. I said we would win 3-1 but forgot that we always let in two. Now for the new manager and it will not be Allerdyce.

BlueMike76

1.) 06 Nov 2017 00:23:26
Few fellas at game today were convinced deals are done for Dyche to us, Allardyce to Burnley and Moyes to West Ham during international break. Time will tell .

02 Nov 2017 22:09:39
I managed to watch the game in the US on TV. The performance was an absolute disgrace and totally disrespectful to Everton football club. I have watched Everton since I was 6 years of age over 71 years ago and I have never been as ashamed of the performance as I was today. Even in the bad years like when we were relegated to the old second division I could hold my head up and say the team played with passion and pride in the jersey. Not today, we were an absolute shambles in defense and non-existant in attack. Players like Williams and Schneiderlin should never wear the jersey again IMHO. I just hope that Kenwright and Moshiri choose the right manager to take us forward and who has the guts to remove the dead-wood quickly.

I can't believe the panic and calls for our next manager to be Sam Allardyce, someone who was fired from the English managers job. Does anyone remember our motto? Take my word for it, we will not be in the bottom three teams at the end of the season. Why, because their are three teams that are worse than us and will end up with less points. We have 28 games to get the required number of points and the January window to improve the squad notably central defense, left-back and a target man.
As far as at the new Manager is concerned we have got to get this one right, not for a short term fix but for the long term good of the club. We need stability for the foreseeable future which excludes quick fixes or Managers who see this as a stepping stone to bigger things. I am not going to speculate who this may be but if the club would be willing to pay me a large retainer I am sure I could come up with some names as well as anyone in the club. As Ed002 has stated many times we need advice from a third party (not me) to choose the right person this time around. This season may not turn out like most of us expected but we will not be relegated and hopefully the next Manager will provide both entertaining football and a future for the club for which we can all be proud.

1.) 31 Oct 2017 18:21:09
Why are we all saying appointing Dyche, Allardyce is a backwards step, a backwards step from Koeman Martinez are these actually better manager or is it the fact these managers maximise what they have, Burnley are 7th with double our points and too be honest they have had just as tough fixtures as us. Dyche gets the best from his players with the budget he has got, the only way people can judge him is by getting a bigger job.

2.) 31 Oct 2017 20:55:38
Dyche isn't my 1st choice but what do I know, I wanted Koeman.

3.) 31 Oct 2017 21:12:14
I would not have major problems if we appointed Dyche although I don't want him since he does not have the experience we need IMHO nor does he have any affinity with the club. Why any Evertonian would accept Allardyce is beyond me.

4.) 31 Oct 2017 21:21:05
Finally a common sense post.

5.) 31 Oct 2017 23:03:33
Moyes never had the experience we needed but he did fine once appointed. At least Dyche has prem experience. Moyes didnt.

6.) 01 Nov 2017 07:09:14
To be fair Dentie. We found out after 11 years Moyes limitations and no trophies. We're in a position now where we need someone who will take the club onto the next level and move it forward.

Sam is corrupt and produces utter boring football and Dyche looks like he is modelling his career on the same type of football.

For some reason Evertonians seem to have hit the panic button and now want to take anyone who's been running a struggling club.

7.) 01 Nov 2017 07:52:54
Nor did Moyes have any affinity with the club before he joined. We really limit our options if we insist on that, however romantic it seems. The new guy has to have the requisite knowledge, skills and character, and in my view (not shared by all, I know) these are more important than a high profile or experience in the prem. He also has to be inspired by the job. In fairness to Roberto, he did seem to take the club to heart from day one, although my guess is he was the same wherever he went. Contrast that with Koeman, who went on holiday as soon as he signed the contract, always talked about the club in the third person and was on record as saying the reason he came here is because Southampton wouldn't give him a better contract and Everton offered him a lot of money - no wonder he didn't inspire the troops! We love Rhino because he cares deeply about the job and about the club and of course that matters. It's not the only factor (any of us would bring passion, but we'd be rubbish) , but you want a sense that the new guy would have that once he's here. My guess is that Dyche would bring passion, whatever else we think of him.

8.) 01 Nov 2017 09:36:12
But apparently they have no intention of contact for now. Yet have contacted Mr Allardyce.

9.) 01 Nov 2017 09:54:57
I think we should wait till the end of the season then go for Claus from FC Parata he would be bang on to deliver everything everyone want be Christmas.

10.) 01 Nov 2017 15:42:20
My concern with Dyche is that his play style differs from the players we currently have. (E. g. We have 3 (potentially 4) no. 10’s and no real target man) .

Burnley currently play with no real no. 10 and 1, if not 2, target men up top.

Should we not be looking for a manager who can play a style/ system that utilizes the players we currently have in the squad and look to bolster the squad with some additions in January?

How are we going to win any game playing with 9 men. Schneiderlin walks around making sure he is nowhere near any opposition players and Williams is a liability. We need a manager who has the balls to get rid of these total waste of space. A poor team like Southampton is running rings around us.

Can't see it happening but if it did he would sort out the defense. Not a bad shot if he is willing to come on a short term deal.

Not sure what you want them to divulge Bobby. As far as the Manager's job is concerned what can they do. Unless they are after a Manager who is not working they have to go through proper channels and it would be wrong of them to inform the fan base before those discussions were completed. The stuff in the media is pure speculation and the only thing that is certain at present is that Unsworth is acting Manager.

Agreed bullenroadboy but look at the two of them against Watford, like bosom buddies. Kenwright must still have some influence and I just hope that he pulls the plug on Allerdyce.

If it is him Skylark then I think we have to give him a chance and get behind the team. Will not be my favorite appointment but managers come and managers go and we supporters are in it for life.

Agree with you sa90. We are letting in 2 goals per game, it's a wonder we have any points. Need defensive replacements this window. If we get in a good striker great but the defense is the main need.

All Unsworth has to do is pick the right team, which means dropping players like Rooney, Williams and Schneiderlin. My team for tomorrow:
Pickford
Kenny, Keane, Jags, Baines
Gueye
Vlasic, Sigurdsson, Lookman
Niasse, Calvert-Lewin
with that team 4-0 for us.
