Have read that Tim Cahill is being offerred an executive position at the club, but don't know when. With Graeme Sharpe on the board I wonder how much influence they would have in new appointments, especially as more in touch with playing than other board members.

Get Brands back to the club,

If desire to have ex employee as manager get Moyes back to bring some stability to the club and return to The Peoples club image.

Brian21

1.) 17 Jan 2022 14:59:03
If Cahill joins the board they would probably be a better side the the first 11.

2.) 17 Jan 2022 14:59:40
It's is mental that brands has been given the boot reportedly because he and Rafa couldn't work together then a few weeks later Rafa gone as well.

3.) 17 Jan 2022 15:25:05
should on the coaching staff showing these lot how to head a ball from a set piece am i right he scored more headers than scoring with his feet throughout his career.

4.) 17 Jan 2022 16:25:19
What's brands actually done since he came in? Fair enough their disagreement may have been the tipping point, but do we actually think he's done well? I know a lot of people will say he never had control due to moshiri and his advisors but brands has to take some blame there. He's sat taking a good pay check for years whilst letting everything go over his head.

{Ed025's Note - fair point cropper..

5.) 17 Jan 2022 17:09:28
Don’t remember hearing a single positive thing on here about Brands in the last year. We can be happy with Rafa leaving without rewriting history. Brands has been culpable for far longer than Rafa was.

{Ed025's Note - all of them have been JB, from the board to the fans and everyone inbetween mate..

6.) 17 Jan 2022 18:03:08
Everton has been a cushy number for Players, Managers and Brands to be honest. Not much responsibility, just expect to do the bare minimum for mid-table mediocrity. The rubbish has only hit the fan because we are close to the relegation positions. The whole attitude at the club from Board members to the tea-lady has to change otherwise we will end up another Sunderland or Sheffield Wednesday. I hope someone like Tim Cahill does come in, his type of attitude is what is needed.

7.) 17 Jan 2022 18:13:08
Well I did not type "rubbish" but the word that comes from "Ship High In Transit".

8.) 17 Jan 2022 20:03:36
Brands was never allowed to do his job fully. But on the other hand, he never challenged Moshiri’s decisions so I doubt him returning will change the situation.

We are up a creak without a paddle….

9.) 17 Jan 2022 21:11:18
Our transfer woes started the minute we appointed a DoF in my opinion. Millions upon millions wasted by the two of them. I'd rather we let the manager bring in his own players again, see if it actually works out.

05 Dec 2021 10:10:31
We have read the speculation about Arsenal interest in DCL.
To add to the list Now read that
Rafa is open to letting Pickford leave to Spurs for £30m. Ridiculous low price when the club need money. £50-£60m.

Also the owner interested in Mourinho as manager if Rafa leaves.

Also Everton interested in signing Eden Hazard.

No doubt more speculative stories will emerge. I would think there may be some truth behind the first two stories.

Brian21

1.) 05 Dec 2021 11:14:49
Jose isn't doing well at Roma and is moaning about his lack of squad depth there. I'm sure he'd love to come to Everton to dip his hands into the toolkit of mainly spanners.

2.) 05 Dec 2021 11:41:33
Well if that happens then the man will definitely be living up to his agent Rafa tag.

3.) 05 Dec 2021 12:10:36
Hope rumours are wrong. Pickford is a liability st times but not eorth selling st 30 million. As for moriniho surely its old rumours, hope rafa gets jan transfer window at least, no more big name manager.

4.) 05 Dec 2021 12:20:48
Self perpetuating guff cycle. RIP sports journalism hello agenda blogger.

03 Nov 2021 09:09:24
I've read that big Dunc is shortlisted for the Stockport County job. Whether he has been approached or applied or just press speculation I don't know. Odds 5/ 1 I saw.

Brian21

1.) 03 Nov 2021 21:31:10
Do him good to go on his own.

2.) 04 Nov 2021 12:55:20
I'd like to see him cut his teeth somewhere else, if only to see how he gets on being the man in charge properly. Dunc needs the experience before being considered for the so called 'bigger' jobs. If the rumour is true, I wish him all the best.

10 Jun 2021 16:45:06
I see on Everton rumours now site the club approaching Pelligrini.

Brian21

{Ed025's Note - i really hope not brian..

1.) 10 Jun 2021 17:12:11
Media getting ridiculous now Just waiting for Curbishly Joe Royle and Alex Ferguson to be linked next.

2.) 10 Jun 2021 17:32:24
Yea their starting run out of names now.

I. Personally don't see anything wrong with VAR as a new technology. It is the people who are using the system that are at fault or not up to it.
Remember when computers came on the scene? People were blaming the computer when things went wrong when it fact it was the people entering the data that were at fault.

Craig Pawson I believe was the VAR official last night. I don't think anymore needs to be said. This is an ideal time where the game needs ex players to be match officials.

Looking at it now it's more a question of opinion. The time taken at times to come to a decision say whether to allow a goal or not, I sometime think they spend the time to find a way to disallow a goal rather than a reason to allow it, depending which teams are on the pitch.
Consistency and common sense has now gone from the game.

Brian21

1.) 05 Jan 2024 14:04:24
It’s the constant stopping and starting that gets on my nerves. This is not American football. The ref didn’t give a fowl, get on with it.

2.) 05 Jan 2024 14:22:06
All valid points Brian. Never been a fan of VAR the technology is there but poorly used and as you rightly said all based on opinions which is where shouldn't intervene and should if going be used involve the club captains or management to be given a review say 2or 3 a game. The guys in the studio shouldn't be involved and monitors camera angles on teams dugout so the team can ask for a review or player's on field via the captain only.

3.) 05 Jan 2024 17:25:19
Maybe we should give them the bird, Harlex.

4.) 05 Jan 2024 18:06:44
Just get shut and let’s get back to watching and talking about football, instead of constantly talking about bloody VAR.

5.) 05 Jan 2024 18:22:55
VAR would be better if both managers have 3 var checks, so for example:A goal is scored and the manager thinks there was an off side or a foul. the manager can use one of his 3 var checks. Then he had 2 var checks left ?‍♂️.

6.) 05 Jan 2024 18:38:08
It's going to look worse when slowed down but the DCl one was most likely given because of the studs up which although I don't agree with it will be there argument that its the rules.
The Beto penalty on the other hand would be a penalty if it was slowed down and looked at. The player had his arms wrapped around Beto (an unnatural positon) when Beto had his back to goal, in the time it took Beto to turn and try and run for the ball the player has his arms around him the whole time. That is impeding a player also with your arms in an unnatural position all day long.
The lack of angles from Var to show how much contact Was made is a joke.
In my opinion the ref if he goes to the screen should be able to control the replay and view and from that point Stockley Park should relinquish control and opinion on the decision.

7.) 05 Jan 2024 18:58:03
So 6 stops every game!

8.) 05 Jan 2024 19:05:03
There’s nothing wrong with VAR, it’s the application of it that’s failing us all. Red cards often ruin games surely erring on the side of caution and therefore issuing fewer red cards is better for the game?

9.) 05 Jan 2024 21:16:06
No no no, stop slowing the game down. Just feckin bin it!

10.) 05 Jan 2024 23:57:23
It’s still got me clucking angry dfs.

11.) 06 Jan 2024 07:18:37
No fowl no game.

08 May 2023 13:32:41
I would hope following recent results that Keane is benched and replaced with Coady and Iwobi replaced by Grey. Better chance of more service to DCL .

Brian21

1.) 08 May 2023 14:44:25
He has to drop Keane. Personally I’d give Mina a go, he’s the best centre half we have.

2.) 08 May 2023 15:13:15
None of our centre backs are good or quick enough to play as a pair, we should have played 3 all season and 2 strikers. Meaning we rotated between defensive or offensive midfield depending on opposition.

3.) 08 May 2023 15:39:18
Not going to happen. Dyche is going on the assumption that Keane and Tarks are still the same as at Burnley. He is going to live and die by that. Lose to Brighton tonight and that is us down I fear.

02 Apr 2023 10:33:29
A win against Spurs and 3 points will be a massive boost to confidence and move up the table. We need to concentrate on what we do to stay up rather than what other clubs in the same situation do.
Maintaining Premier League survival is priority, for the fans, the players, the club and the city.

The fans are not responsible for the clubs financial situation and no doubt those responsible will soon have to accept their responsibility for it. Let's hope a new board will be in place soon.

Brian21

26 Feb 2023 10:36:25
Last season we stayed up because 3 teams were worse than us.
I am an optimist and believed after last weeks home win we would have no problem staying up and rely on winning home games.
Other teams around us with the exception of Bournemouth and Southampton have shown signs of improvement and now there are only 2 teams worse than us. I know there's a long way to go but feel it's going to be between Leeds and Everton for the 3rd relegation place.
Somebody has got to score goals from open play and as others suggest why isn't Grey starting, would Simms and Maupey together solve anything, Maupey and Grey or Simms and Grey. Something needs trying or changing.
This talk that the board tried to sign striker in January I take with a pinch of salt. They went through the motions but was there ever the determination to get someone signed up. He who went to Spurs at last minute, why not signed up immediately after medical. Thinks it's just to keep the fans happy. Finally would the club be any better if Ferguson was still here coaching with Maupey and Simms.

Brian21

1.) 26 Feb 2023 11:15:37
Wolves, West Ham, Leicester and forest are all still in the relegation battle with us, Leeds, Bournemouth and Southampton.

Whilst it was a disappointing result yesterday, not much has changed.

We’re still in the league and still have time to secure safety.

2.) 26 Feb 2023 13:29:47
Need to beat all those mentioned above.

3.) 26 Feb 2023 13:36:16
West Ham helped keep Forest in the scrap by beating them.

Razor blades or a noose are probably more appropriate Mocker.

3.) 25 Jan 2023 10:13:28
And the hankies when I start crying with laughter.

4.) 25 Jan 2023 10:30:57
If they are anything like our attack and defence no problem, they'll lack a cutting edge and not get tight enough.

5.) 25 Jan 2023 11:02:52
Mockler I think you've won comment of the day ??.

6.) 25 Jan 2023 11:27:32

One bit of advise I give to anyone leaving their employer, always leave on good terms because if you are on the way down you never know if you might need their help to get back up. This applies everywhere and includes football management.

To Frank and the players,
The fans are long overdue a trip to Wembley. Last nights performance was a wasted opportunity to progress towards achieving that trip.

Yes, massive mistake not getting another striker in. Only need Maupassant to pick up injury an we back to square one. Only wins will get us up the table and to get those we need to score goals. Could be very embarrassing, but hope not.

As everyone knows a striker is the priority. If someone doesn’t get goals we don’t win matches and we know where that will end. As I see it at the moment whoever Frank selects to play there is NO GOAL threat up top and oppositions know this. Got to be sorted bring 2 in, preferably with a view for one of them to replace DCL as I think he will be going in the next window.

I would value Branthwaite at £100m. I base this on the fact didn’t Arsenal pay £100m for Rice, also John Stones wasn’t he sold for £50 years ago. So he’s got to be in the £100m valuation. Young and recently in the England squad, he is Everton’s most valuable playing asset. Certainly wouldn’t sell below £90m.

I would put valuation of £60m on Pickford and Onana and would sell either or both of these before Branthwaite. But we are not in ideal situations and £ signs flash before forward thinking.

If there is any truth in this Ali new deal, who at the club would be responsible. Whoever it is wants a long think about what has he produced since he arrived and at what cost.
Maybe a deliberate leek from the club to sound out fans reactions to the idea.

Brian21

{Ed002's Note - The club do not "leek" anything to get fans opinion. At the moment the club cannot afford to play him.}

Blue 5050, you make a good point there about pausing VAR and getting ex professional players in to staff it. We’ve got too many chiefs meddling in it, one ref on the pitch making real time decisions and one elsewhere having advantage of several views of incidents. The integrity of the on and off field refs comes into question with so many getting it wrong. Majority of fans will accept an on field decision, may not like it but will accept it and it should be left at that. If VAR is to have the final say then any conversations between the refs should be made public. I don’t like it.
I watched the Burnley v Luton game on Friday evening. Luton were awarded a late equaliser. It went to VAR and they awarded a goal when it was plainly obvious the Burnley goalkeeper was impeded by a Luton player, not initially obvious but definitely fouled.

Dino, perhaps after each training session, he should make the players watch videos of Man City and say to the players, this is how to play football.

Steve toro, you not blind. All Iwobi did was do a lot of running, scored an occasional goal and nothing else. Couldn’t head, couldn’t dribble couldn’t pass. A very poor purchase and pleased he’s gone.
