Hi Eds, hope you're all well. I see there's growing chatter online that Dwight McNeil might be on the move, and we may be one of the clubs interested. Do you know if there's any truth in this rumour?

TootingBlue

{Ed002's Note - Dwight McNeil (LW) Aston Villa have a declared interest an interest in the player but want to clarify another situation first. Everton have him on a list of LW options according to his agent.}

Cheers Ed. Haven't seen too much of him, but he looked good against us last season (although that wasn't a necessarily high bar.! )

{Ed002's Note - I rather doubt it.}

Hi Eds, happy new (lockdown) year! Are you aware of any actual interest from us regarding Christian Eriksen?

TootingBlue

{Ed025's Note - its being touted on a lot of media outlets tooting, myself i think its people putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 246..

Cheers Ed. Oh well, we can but dream! ;-)

Well lads, i reckon that's our best transfer window since we signed Lineker.

I agree, just have a feeling this might be Lewis Gibson's break through season.

2.) 10 Aug 2019 05:24:04
It might have to be. We are week at the back and can’t really take any injuries. Mina’s fitness was a problem last season, so I understand why people are concerned. If Gibson gets his chance he will need to take it.

Excellent window lads.

4.) 11 Aug 2019 06:48:24
Lewis Gibson hasn't even been given a Squad number.

Whilst I'm new to posting here, I'm a longer term reader of all your posts and love the variety of insight and passion (sometimes in the same post! ) you all offer. And so I'd like to wish you all a Merry Crimbo, especially to the Ed's that expertly coral us into being constructive in that passion, and are understanding when we're not! For me, this is the first Everton site I've found, since the Blue Kipper finished, that captures the spirit you get from being in the crowd.

{Ed0333's Note - Seasons greetings Tooting Blue. Hope your enjoying Sam the messiah and his sexy football.

Ha Ha! I'm all for giving him a bit of time - I remember his Stoke team having their moments.

Old Sam's apparently wondering why there's been a sudden upturn in our defensive fortunes. Well big man, it's a one word, two syllable answer - Holgate! ;-)

He gives us that necessary bit of gas in the backline, which then frees up Ashley to play to his strengths. (Us supporters have given AW some justified criticisms for his performances this season, but I'm starting to wonder if these have come from him trying to do too much in those games)

It's also worth considering that our improvement where conceding goals is concerned has also coincided with an improvement in the selection/ balance of our attacking players. Rooney has matured into playing a disciplined midfield role compared to earlier in the season. Sigurdsson is belatedly showing us why we paid £45m for him now that he's our defacto "10". Aaron, whilst not quite the impish winger of his youth, has been the assured veteran on our right, shielding Jonjoe one minute, then bringing him into the game on the overlap the next. And let's not forget Oumar, who I'd argue sparked the improvement in our frontline, with the examples he has set with his sheer determination, and enthusiasm for making the opposition defence work and sweat far more than they would like!

In fact, the only half of football that we've conceded in since Sam took over was the first half of the derby when we didn't really try to attack at all.

That is a good call Tooting. Doesn't explain why an otherwise class act like Schneiderlin is still playing as if it were his first season out of the academy though. Gueye for me plays a heck of a lot better when Scheiderlin is out of the way because his personality (Schneiderlin) seems to take Gueyes authority away.

2.) 14 Dec 2017 12:04:30
It is also down to players playing in a settled team regularly. Koeman and Unsworth both changed the team every game. Kenny needed a bit of time and Holgate has been magnificent. But the basic team got one result and has had only minor changes since. Now we have a basis for future improvement.

3.) 14 Dec 2017 13:23:24
Correct about Holgate Tooting. I posted the same a few days ago. He has been great and I hope we see him with Keane shortly. Williams is getting better but is still too slow for the good teams and don't get me started about Martina.

Apparently they're a bit skint at the moment, so they've taken on a second job.

But are they really "grown fella's" if they're still spitting their dummys out, 10 years later, over a stupid comment Benitez made in the aftermath of a derby game where we'd frustrated them? From my point of view, when opposition managers come out with rubbish like that, it just shows you've got under their skin, and so it's a badge of honour.

The thing we've got to remember is, whoever comes in will be inheriting the same group of misfiring players that had Ancelotti running for Madrid at the end of the season.

I'm pretty sure it's based on a shirt we wore back in the early years, before we settled on the blue.

What we've been missing, probably since Neville left, has been a proper leader on the pitch.
