Not sure what McNeil adds to the team. Another costly unnecessary signing. For the same price, could've had Cornet who at least has pace and scores goals.

Mcneil was presumably bought to provide for DCL. But you're right it's not looking brilliant business right now, but give him a few games at least, it's not easy providing to no one.

Although I'm not against Mcneil, I do think Cornet would have been better value and offer more on the pitch but its done so no point looking at what ifs! . Let him settle it, we have a few new players and it'll take time to gel!

If you look at Iwobi its took over a season for him to start playing well with consistency. McNeil has played two PL games and people are already questioning the signing it baffles me real why some are so impatient. He may turn out to be a poor signing however, he may not! What I do know is that he is an Everton player so gets my support until he's not.

Well said sa90 - we have some of the ficklest and impatient fans.
McNeill played well on his debut against Kiev and everyone raving about him.
Now he’s not done much in 2 league games and fans already on his back.
He’s in a new team with new manager and it takes time to gel, he also hasn’t got a target man to whip crosses into. Having Gordon up top is not the answer. Once he settles and we have a target man to aim for we’ll see a difference in him.

I'm still giving him my support and my verdict won't be given until a good amount of time has passed. I think the problem is that, like myself, people didn't see McNeil as a good transfer so it adds to any bad performances. He was so bad yesterday. I wouldn't start him until DCL is fit.

Fair point folks on McNeil ??. I suppose for me it’s my upbringing that you had to earn respect. (Not just be pulling on the blue shirt on a fantastic wage does that warrant MY respect) . Judge is still out for me as I’m worried about his lack of pace, having said that I remember my shock horror worries after 4/ 5 games on the likes of Jags and Iwobi so lad definitely has time to earn my respect in which case I will give it to him.

Number of managers available who would be an upgrade on Rafa. Thoughts?
I just fear it may be too late to appoint someone without premier league experience with the transfer window closing and only 4 months. of season left. I'd settle for DF until end of season and hope for finishing 17th.

Reading Rafa's statement, as expected he's blamed everything except his own stubbornness, lack of insight, poor coaching and tactics, falling out with players/ staff, etc.
As for the next manager, Kovac and Fonseca would be top choices, both are available, but would be difficult to attract in our current state. Not opposed to having Martinez back (he must have improved defensively working with Belgium! ) but why would he leave in a WC year? Potter won't come. No to Nuno and Lampard. Too early for Wayne, maybe consider in the summer. I think realistically the best option may be to appoint DF till the end of season and hope for 17th.

I remember LFC fans bemoaning his losing the dressing room, almost childish decisions and behavior towards his players, comparing him to Big Sam was pretty much correct except he didn't have Sam's 'man management skills ?.

Disagree. Anyone would be better - even DF!
CA had the same squad and though far from great the performances (and results) were much better.
