I have defended his links but this morning reading Saints rejected 12m is a bit of a surprise. I hope we walk away as he's not worth a penny more. Can't see anyone else bidding more so Ef them and if they want his wages off the bill and to recoup money for player in last year, they'll come crawling back in the last few hours.
I agree we have been bereft of a striker for decades other than the blip with Lukaku. We have always been a pretty toothless lone striker kind of club, 1980s was the last time we were well served with minimum 3 quality striker options. Obviously we all love Big Dunc but not necessarily for his goals record and the Yak had a good ish 1 season.
We have never been able to attract a serious striker, why? Well they are actually pretty rare. We all think of someone who bags 20+ goals in the league. Who actually does that? A handful and they obviously all end up at the handful of mega rich clubs who know how to spend money.

It would have been a better post if you had listed these prolific prem league players we aren't signing.
Gone are the 20 goal strikers that will sign for a bottom half team.
15 goal strikers aren't coming to us for 15million, more like 40-60 and even then would want to be the first choice.

Everyone else is a risk and we have already signed one of them in Chermiti.
Adams would be a decent back up to Dom and fitting for the type of player we can sign.

Is Adams worth 14 million pounds more than Tom Cannon? They Obviously value Adams the same as Maupey but I think Maupey had his best game for Everton last week and now just when he’s starting to click it looks like he will be dropped.

You have to give Maupey a chance, he needs very tricky winger with pace and creative midfielders just like he had At Brighton, he will break his duck at Villa today.

I think he would bring a much needed threat up front. Even if he doesn’t score, he can hold up play like DCL and bring others into play. Maupay doesn’t do that and teams know they can weather the storm against us then pip us on the break in the second half.

He would only need to score a handful of goals to beat our current front lines tally for last season…

We are beggars and our choices are limited; very limited! Who else can we get who is less risky? Vardy’s style is like Maupay but he can finish. Plus, wages would be huge. Iheanacho is as risky as Adams but less physical. Lukaku won’t come, plus wages. Beto and Dia don’t seem to want to come.

I’m struggling to see what and who we can get. We have mistakenly put all our eggs into a DCL basket and it hasn’t worked out. It’ll take years to sort.

You get what you pay for?
Well clubs like Brighton have shown you don’t have to pay a fortune for quality. We either lack a good scouting system, or the confidence to sign so called lesser known players.
Is Adams worth 15m? Probably not. Are there other players out there for around that price who would be better? Probably yes. But don’t forget we paid 15m for Maupay, another player with Premiership experience but a poor goal return. Are we simply repeating the same mistake with Adams?
