Rumours utd are looking at Pickford to replace de gea. If that move eventually comes which I think it will who would you go for? Dean Henderson maybe?

{Ed025's Note - i dont think he is going anywhere eddy, but if he does then we move on mate, all players are just transient employees and can be replaced..

i may get blasted for this but he reminds me of manuel neuer can pick a pass from a mile off yes he gets bit erratic but shot stopping wise he's up there with allison and ederson must keep but be gutted if he gets sold in my opinion my mates are reds and they all rate him.

{Ed077's Note - Pickford reminds you of Neuer? How?

Neuer and Pickford both play in different kits to their team mates and put on gloves. I think the similarity ends right about there.

This is the most absurd "opinion" I've seen on these pages ever. Wow. Am I hallucinating or is this actually really happening?

Either way offering a new contract has to be priority. Doesn't his end in roughly 18 months or so.

{Ed025's Note - yeah its around 2 years NBTB but needs sorting asap mate..

Sell for optimum amount - after we that will be right time. Lots of decent cheaper goalies. Remember we City wanted to pay 30m for Holgate 3 years ago and we all said noooo lol.

Would not sell Pickford at all. Where would we get as good. Wouldn't write Holgate off either, only 25. Plenty eating humble pie here over Iwobi. Why write off Holgate?

okay might been over the top with comparing him to neuer but shot stopping wise he is up there he's does bit erratic wants get involved but he is a good keeper bet you're laughing ed 077 as i am meself mate tbh haha but just my opinion mate.

{Ed077's Note - "shot stopping wise he is up there" that's literally one of JP's shortcomings (pun intended) in that his shorter height and short arms/hands means he's rarely "up there"

It was a very funny comparison to wake up to mate. Hey ho you're allowed to have wrong opinions too.

Mate he also wears shoes another similarity???how could you forget that ed077.

{Ed077's Note - my bad. How did I miss that? :-D

United are not that stupid, degea is in another league to Pickford, like it or not.

Totally agree Birkenhead.
Utd rarely make sensible signings.
Pickford premier league
De Gea league one.

Pickford just proven by his absence that he's miles ahead for England no1. 4 points dropped due to his injury. Its taken 2 backups 2 games to rewind the clangers of Joe Harts era. He's better than UTD and if he does go, deserves a bigger club that challenges otherwise may as well stay and finish career with us.

If you think that’s the most absurd option on here you obviously don’t read our page much

We have had the 2 Messiah’s in Koeman and Benitez. The thought expressed Tom Davies could do a job for England. Coleman could play on into his 40s. Somehow it’s Moshris fault his 500million on players haven’t worked out and some still thinking Brands did a good job

Pickford I would say is arguably best in PL since start of the season - comparing him not too crazy.

{Ed077's Note - all those opinions are iffy to absurd but Pickford being compared to Neuer is still even more ridiculous than those in my view.

Ed077, to say Pickford isn't a good shot stopper is a blinkered view. From the tail end of last season, until his injury, he made some superb saves in quite a few of the games. Shot stopping isn't his shortcoming at all.

{Ed077's Note - doing theatricals to save a ball 6 inches from you doesn't make anyone a "good shotstopper" in my view.

For instance I had read that Pickford made amazing bsaves in the recent Merseyside derby. Later I watched the highlights of his saves, not one stood out as being brilliant to me, and most should be fairly routine for a decent GK. His ridiculous performances innthe past have made most of you admire his decent run of form and blow it out of proportions leading to him being conpared to a modern great like Neuer, IMO.

Sobs throwing a tone load of money into a club when you don't know what uou are doing or how to run the club deserves blame. As Ed 002 said he was listening to third party advisers, how did that go? Moshirir does deserve blame. Hopefully all that is over though and he has learned from his mistakes. I think that time has been a have reality check for the man.

Funny you mention that Birkenhead because plenty of United fans want De Gea out because he’s making mistakes every game

Then again you said Nick Pope was better than Pickford; he did well last night

As for people continuing to think Pickford isn’t that good, these are likely the same people that herald Hugo Lloris as some all time great. Lloris actually has worse stats than Kepa for individual errors and expected saves btw. Or at least did until recently

Pickford is really good, he doesn’t have to be Neuer.

Have a look who Evertons next home game is, do we not go down this same road, everytime we are due to play one of the sky luvvies, been going on for years, everytime Everton start to get a run or feel good factor, the media will always try to piss on our parade, by linking one of our players to whoever we have coming up on the horizon.

Pickford will be one of the last player Everton let’s go, unless Pickford refuses to sign a contract, or asks for a move.

I can kinda see where your coming from especially with the theatricals. He can certainly be over the top and put on a show. Can't help but mention perhaps being a red you can't help but see the downside.

Agreed, can't be compared to Neuer currently and may never get to that level. At the same time he is only 28 which signals he has a good 10 years to improve further as the age range generally goes for goalkeepers. As said he may never get to Neuer level but point being his mistakes previously were done early in his career and he gained valuable experience in the meantime. Which will no doubt stand to him going forward in his career. Like he was only 23 was it when he joined Everton.

Also the media love a scapegoat to target. Especially the English media in general. Bit like Pickfords theatricals. No need for it what so ever. Just my point of view and trying to meet ya some of the way. Don't really think the original poster genuinely meant he was as good as Neuer. As they say truth is somewhere in the middle.

okay he's gone way waybjverbiard comparing him to Neuer but you are definitely biased mate when it comes to Pickford. Pickford makes a mistake and everybody roundsnkn him, Allison makes clangers and kkbody says anything. I'm not saying Pickford is better than Allison either but he is a fantastic goalkeeper.
