Ed mate if these players want to play for someone else well go. that's if they want you. am getting pissed off (pardon me French) . That there waiting for a better offer. I understand were not an attractive club anymore but were offering a good wage and a 3 to 5 year contract . come and play for the shirt not the wage or don't come at all. am sorry for the abrut approach but if yer not arsed don't come.

{Ed002's Note - To be frank you need to understand that Everton will not be known by many of the players from mainland Europe, like the English players will not know about Getafe, Rennes, Kaiserslauten, Bari etc. Without searching the Internet.}

I think the only way we can sell Everton to young players who don’t really know everton is sell to them went are a stepping stone to a bigger club give us 3 years of good performacea and the interest will come. There’s nothing wrong with doing it this look at Atletico Madrid and monAco they do spend big If a young player has huge potential and they do sell big too and they have so very well in the leagues well that’s what model we should me aiming for.

I disagree to an extent there ed. Although I completely disagree with the original post. A player is going to try and get the best job available, play CL football and try to satisfy their ambitions of competing and winning silverware. We can't expext people to beg to sign for us if there are better job prospects. We would all do the same in our working life. Ed, I do think the premier league status and popularity alone would make us more known than the clubs that you mentioned. For a club outside of the elite we have a decent global recognition/ brand. I think a lot more players abroad would know of Everton. But the appeal, knowledge and pull is nowhere near as strong as others which is why players will consider their options. It could be I agree or disagree but to an extent.

{Ed002's Note - No, I am afraid not. If you were to take young French, Italian, Spanish and German players from Guingamp, Sassuolo, Eibar and Augsburg they would know little of Everton - they would be unlikely to be able to put a pin in a map and tell you where the club is based or name players from the club. It would be no different to the young English players from Everton like Pennington and Calvert-Lewin - could they put a pin in a map and find any of these clubs, or name any of the players? No will be the answer. I think you are perhaps over estimating the standing Everton has in Europe. Take a simple European ranking position - Everton sits between Partizan Belgrade who sit one place above them and Slovan Liberec.}

Sorry Ed, we’ll have to agree to disagree here. Been to Europe, US, Asia, Africa. Everton are well known and respected. Not all players of course, but certainly Rooney raised our profile last season. The Premier League in general now has a far greater exposure than any other league.

{Ed002's Note - Of course.}

B79 although the PL s probably watched by a fare few people across Europe, I suspect they tend to watch the clubs at the top end of the league not so much the mid table sides. So unless we are playing a top side I suspect not many people watch Everton. I think Ed002 is probably closer with his assumption that not a lot of European players know much about us. We don't compete regularly enough in European competitions to raise our profile either. We have never been a big European club and until we can rise our profile within Europe then I can see why we struggle to get players in the top European competitions banging on our doors wanting to play for us.

Goes without saying that more people watch the top clubs. But we play top clubs often and so have good exposure worldwide. Also goes without saying that a player would rather join ManU than Everton. Outside of the top 6 though, we do have a pull over mid table teams from other European leagues.

Plus Liverpool FC raises knowledge of us. They know Liverpool so they would most probably know of the derbies, so they would most probably know that we are in Liverpool :) that's why I said to an extent. No where near as much as the big clubs and not in as much depth butore than the clubs that you mentioned in both regards imo atleast ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are all kidding yourselves.}
