as much as I would love Martinez to be sacked nothing is going to happen one way or the other until the end of the season.

Looking at our remaining fixtures and based on our current form its hard to see were the next win is coming from.

although there are 3 clubs worse then us we are not safe from relegation, with that in mind we need to get behind the team for the remainder of the season no matter what.

the other issues can then be dealt with in the summer.

{Ed025's Note - im all for that blueboy, lets hope we can salvage something with a win at wembley to cheer us all up..

Anyone think Diego Simeone might be a good fit for us as manager.

No chance, unless Usmanov buys the other half.

I've been saying this to a few of my mates that we should go all out to get this fella in charge. He apparently wants to manage in the premier league we've got a few bob to spend, sleeping giant of a team with a lot of quality that isn't performing under the present manager. I think he's the perfect match for us. Plus where else is he likely to go in the prem Chelsea - Conti, City - Guardiola, Utd - Mourinho, Reds - Klopp, Arsenal - Wenger, Spurs -Pochettino. No vacancies at the traditional clubs that get mentioned first so why not us.

{Ed002's Note - You can strike Simeone off the list of potential managers as well. It is simply not going to happen.}

Is this because you have some inside knowledge Ed002 or is it just your opinion?

{Ed002's Note - These are not managers Everton will be looking to nor will likes of Mourinho, Blanc and Simeone be considering moving to Everton I am afraid.}

The idea that any manager/ coach - no matter his reputation and record elsewhere - could come in, wave a magic wand, and by his mere presence bring unequalled success to Everton is ludicrous. Throwing around all these "big" names is fun for the fans, but it'll take a combination of factors from the owners, coaches, players, fans, money, etc., to make Everton genuine contenders in today's football environment. With FM's investment, we should (but it's not guaranteed! ) have a chance to compete, but there are many other clubs -, in England, Europe, and around the world - who are equally ambitious and many of them are better-placed (currently at least! ) to compete for the top prizes.

{Ed002's Note - What I suspect will happen Sid is that external help will come in to look at what the entire business has (not just the footballing side) and where it needs to get to. In order to achieve where it needs to get to there needs to be a sensible plan (stadium, academy, involvement of the community and the local authorities, football side, commercial side etc.). From a commercial perspective their will be a big boost next season with the additional media money, and a good chunk of that will be available early to encourage summer spending. Also on the footballing side Everton will look to inform UEFA of new investment (this has to be done by December 31) which will give a short-term buffer against FFP for the 2017/18 season. I would also suspect that teh plan will include the run down of BK over the next year or so and then the sale of his shares to Farhad Moshiri or Farhad Moshiri in partnership with another/others. Critically, there needs to be a plan and not knee jerk reaction.}

Ed002: thanks for your reply.
I don't see Everton as being a "vanity" project for FM, so there shouldn't be emotional knee-jerk reactions.
What I do expect is an intelligently constructed and sensibly funded plan-of-action that is professionally executed.
BK's enthusiasm and genuine love for the club were fine for someone who's a fan at heart, but his sentimentality and gushing praise has to be tempered by a cold-headed realism at the club's helm and I hope/ trust that FM and his associates will bring that to the club.
Time will tell. It'll be an interesting - if bumpy - journey for all concerned.

{Ed002's Note - I don't see any knee-jerk reactions coming either Sid but unfortunately that is what many of the fans here are screaming for. There is a need to look at the bigger business - and there is no overnight solution.}

OK Ed 002 so its your opinion then no problem. I'll stick with my hopes (however slim they may be) that we show some level of ambition and try to go for managers like Simeone the same as Newcastle have with Benitez and Leicester did with Ranieri.

{Ed002's Note - I can assure you that Mourinho, Blanc and Simeone will not be joining Everton. It is hardly comparable to Benitez (who will leave Newcastle for another job if they are relegated) or Ranieri. In fact Ranieri would certainly have considered the Everton job if offered. But the others, as I have explained won't be doing so.}

Does the fact that we are being linked to players Martinez likes suggest he will be in charge next season?

Martinez also said he shouldn't be judged over the last 3 months but the last 3 years! That being the case the results are still the same we are going backwards!
