No Allan in the napoli side for todays friendly. Could we about to get our 1st signing in?

Would be made up by him signing. Also Doucoure and Rodriguez if rumours are true - WOW! But i can't help wondering about Andre Gomes, will he be content rotating throughout the season for a place in our new look midfield? He seems the type that would be wanting regular game time and i'm sure he joined us expecting to get this. Plus Gordon was looking like an exceptionally promising youngster who needs game time to develop fully. I'm sure he will get the minutes as a substitute which will help him but after the restart, he was arguably our best player so seems a little unfair.
Do we really need 3 midfielders joinimg when we have concerns over other positions?

Depends on the formation Worcester. Carlo played 442 with us but maybe because of personel at the time. Looking back to his milan days, i'm a milan fan through family, he use to play 4312 with a b2b (doucoure) on one side, a destroyer (alan/ gbamin) on the other and the rearmost midfielder, a regista I think its called, at milan was pirlo, now we don't have a pirlo but we do have a gomes that can play that position.
James would be the the most advanced midfielder sitting behind two strikers.
Wingbacks would provide width
I may be totally wrong, but its one way of fitting them all in.

Mate if Gomes doesn’t like it he’s going to have to up his game and make sure he’s irreplaceable like every player on that pitch needs to, Carlo won’t carry dogs.

That's the exact formation I was thinking Efcfanatic but wasn't sure if it was something Ancelotti had used much, we would definitely need a new RB (Florenzi/ Arias) as Coleman hasn't got the legs to provide the width needed from fullback.

Totally agree mate, florenzi has played as a rb/ wingback/ rm so know the position inside out.
Pretty sure ancelotti won a scudetto with this formation so he'll know it inside out.

Yeah i see your thinking Efcfanatic, but I'm not convinced that is ideal in the EPL. With so much drop-back or "parking the bus", i think it's been demonstrated the last couple of years that fast paced wingers are the real key to attacking success. Obviously Carlo knows a hell of a lot better than me though so if he thinks as you do then I'm all for it.
Ps, pretty harsh bigduncansback. What has Gomes done so wrong to be considered a dog? Suffered a horrendous injury which he battled back from in very quick time, overcame any mental nervousness that all players would carry after an injury like that, and often showed he was one of our highest quality players. Yes he had some dour performances this past season but literally every player in our team did this year. He is not a player i'd be looking to pin blame on.

At Madrid, Bayern, and Chelsea he would often deploy 4 at the back,
A DM which if all goes to play will be Allan
2 CM which could well pan out to be Gomes and Doucouré
And 3 up top which varied between an AM and two strikers
Or 3 across the front, again if all pans out James AM or on the right DCL and Richarlison the other two
Seriously exciting stuff my fellow blues!

He’s not a dog I love Gomes but we have a few dogs ha, they all need to up there game, but if we sign the players we are linked with it could benefit Gomes massively. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sigurdsson ups his game, Rodriguez could also play rw surely.

{Ed025's Note - as per usual we seem to be leaving things pretty late ST, then we get nervous and someone comes in for one of our targets and boom we miss out and there is no time left to rectify the situation, we then spend stupid money on a clown like iwobi at the death to appease the fans and the bus rolls on. im afraid years and years of supporting everton has turned me very cynical mate..

I have a feeling we won't be playing rigid system this season, I thinking that rotating 442 - 433 - 451 - 343 depending on the opposition. Watching Lyon they play 3412 and was really exciting making plenty of chances and winning 5-1, only beaten by Bayern recently.
