Strong rumours surrounding the club at the moment are that Bryan Oviedo is on his way to Norwich City for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £4 million.

This has been reported in a few different places with some members of staff at Norwich's Colney training base also confirming.

£4m not near enough. Although isn't he out of contract at the end of the season?

26 Jan 2016 21:26:23
We payed 2.5 for him if I remember correctly. He now has less than a year on his contract, is injury prone and will probably never be as good as when we signed him. 4m is good business.

26 Jan 2016 21:40:25
He's still only 25 or 26. Has been very injury prone. Doesn't necessarily mean he will be for the next 4 or 5 years. Still has to reach his peak in that time.

26 Jan 2016 22:13:47
I thought we paid 5.

26 Jan 2016 23:22:48
We did pay 5. Would be ridiculous to sell him, as NBTB said he's still young, plus he's very versatile and one of our tidier players. To lose 2 quality, committed fan favorites to Norwich in January is just bizarre.

I do apologise it was 5 mil. Even still after that horror injury and more since I don't think he'll ever be the same player. I hope he proves me wrong tho.

We should be chuffed with 4m, I love Bryan but he is too injury prone and like Gibson, will probably remain that way for the rest of his career. He's not getting in ahead of Baines, Galloway or Garbutt, why keep him? Why keep Gibson? . If we can earn money for them then we should jump at the chance, none of them are affecting the first team and are going for free in the summer, we need to sell these players asap.

27 Jan 2016 02:45:12
Pienaar, Hibbert and Osman out of contract and probably gone in the summer. Naismith already gone.

Oviedo can play in Pienaar's position and recently Hibberts. Gibson could play in similar role to Osman.

You want to sell Oviedo and Gibson swan?

That would be six out. Replace them with what? Martinez has a big over spend since his arrival. Can't imagine he will be buying a big number of players. Might be best to hold onto Gibson and Oviedo as they are quality players and there is already a lot of players leaving.

Yes they had a tough time with injuries. Be a shame to throw them out on their ear after all this time.

I can't tell if they are going to get injured again. No one can. Would be very good squad players and you'd have to hope for the best in terms of injury.

Otherwise that would be six players out with a little over £10m, maybe £15m. Some will be replaced with youth. Can't replace them all with our up and coming players.

Have to have some experience in the squad. Besides wouldn't even leave Martinez spend at evens. He hasn't taken in much money.

We have Mirallas, Lennon and Deulofeu to replace Pienaar. Bryan isn't getting in at left back, Gibson is always injured and we have plenty of cover for him. Need a new right back, we have plenty of players to replace them. Evident from the fact none of them ever play.

27 Jan 2016 13:31:52
Have you ever heard of a thing called injuries to other players bar Oviedo and Gibson, Swan?

There's enough players leaving in the summer. We need a full squad. Won't have one if we keep letting players go.

Ever heard of proper cover or suspensions? We have options as I said the squad is pretty full but getting rid of six plus players with virtually no money to replace them is a bit over the top.

Can't replace them all with youngsters. Our average age would be 23 then. Need the experience. I can't see into the future regards injury. For all I or anyone knows Gibson and Oviedo might never get injured again.

You can't take for granted a player is going to get injured. No matter what history they have with injuries.

Same reason Liverpool should sell Sturridge, taking up wages and not playing enough games.

I find it very unlikely out of nowhere they will become not injury prone. Oviedo is 4th choice left back and 5-6th choice winger, where will he play? . He will want regular football, ever heard of players not wanting to be a squad player in case the 5 players ahead of them all get career threatening injuries or suspensions. Gibson the same, Ledson and Grant should be ready to be a part of the first team next season, Gibson is on decent money to play 3-4 games a season if we are lucky. The likelihood of Besic, Barry, Barkley, McCarthy, Cleverley, Ledson and Grant all being injured or suspended at the same time is very unlikely indeed. Otherwise we would just buy 20 players for each position just to be sure. We don't need these players, they are taking up over 40k a week to play not even double figures in games COMBINED each season, added on to them wanting to play games. Promote youth, to which we have plenty of, or get some loans in.

Do we keep spending millions of pounds per year on these players for new contracts and wages just on the off chance "they stop getting injured".

Ok Swan. I forgot. You can see into the future and you know they are going to get injured again.

28 Jan 2016 00:31:04
It doesn't take a soothsayer to know that Gibson will be injured next year. Naismith I would have kept but the other 5 can go for me. They don't warrant a game now and will be a year older/ worse next season. We would save over 6m in wages which could be reinvested .

28 Jan 2016 02:51:06
Thank you for the English lesson Pod. Had to look up what soothsayer was.

I can only speak for myself and I can't guarantee that Gibson and Oviedo will get injured.
