Have to say, I'm impressed with what thelwell appears to be doing. Got rid of lot of dead wood. Brought in some good young players as well as some more experienced to help bring authority to the team. Managed to bring back gueye, which I think will turn out to be a really good signing for us. I do wish we brought in another attacker but by all accounts we tried hard up to the deadline. My main hope for next window is that he is a bit more prepared and gets more deals done early. However I'll forgive him that given how important it was to get the richy deal done and the fact it was his first window. I'm not completely sold by Frank yet but he says the right things and is improving us, especially at the back. With dcl nearing return, maupey getting his first and gueyes presence hopefully getting up the others I would expect us to find the goals we need.

Overall I'm quietly hopefull for this season. I don't expect us to go for Europe or anything, but I think we'll do far better than people are thinking.

Good money for Richie

Bought in:

Next part of the mission for me is get rid of a few more next summer.

Then see where needs strengthening.

The wings require strengthening. We need winger who can score goals regularly.

Bunk - mina and Rondon are out of contract next summer so they’ll probably go.

Doucore is also out of contract in summer so will be interesting to see what happens to him.

Whilst losing those 3 will help with the wages, is quite disappointing we won’t get a fee for them.

Mina in particular who when fit was probably our best centreback - just a shame he’s so fragile.

Mina has been a sad story, clearly very talented but just can’t stay fit. Shame to see him go, but he’s collecting a massive wage and not playing.

Priority for me next season would be to sign coady permanently, especially given that Mina will be going.

Once that business is done, I would then look for winger, Att mid and another CB if we end up replacing keane. Probs go for Ben brereton Diaz again too.

{Ed025's Note - im hoping that will happen in january MK..

I seem to remember hearing/ saying the same sort of thing when Brands came in Cropper…

We will definitely need a few more windows before we can see what he can do. Just hope Moshiri has learnt his lesson to not interfere this time.

Yea definitely get Coady in permanently, obviously. For me a RB is needed as much if not more than anywhere else. Vulnerable there if Coleman gets a knock and can't see him continuing past this season.

Kinda lacking an attacking midfielder also.

I hear what you are saying BR in that it is only a short time frame but the signings ate a clear improvement. So far so good.
Absolutely Coady should be a token priority. I don't think centre back will be a priority area after securing Coady services permanently. I think Godfrey will come good and I think Brainthwaite will be vyk gfor a place next season. Attacking areas look the most likely areas that need improving; winger and Am.

Apart from hopefully making Coady deal permanent in January I don’t think the club should be looking to sign anyone unless it’s a really good deal.

Most transfers in January you overpay for as it’s half way through most seasons and will affect the selling club.

Hopefully as our performances and results improve and we continue to climb the table Frank can then start at looking to integrate some of the under 23s into the squad in positions we need.

Kyle John - rightback
Charlie Whittaker and Stanley Mills - attacking midfield

There are several players in the under 23s that could hopefully step up to the first team and once our position in the league is a bit healthier hopefully we’ll see them given some game time as could save some money in the long term.

Good post Gingerdan. Can't help but feel that too many of the youngsters don't get enough chances. Lampard does like to bring them in. It is good to blend them in over time with the more experienced players.

For example the already mentioned Jarrad Branthwaite by Blue-tit. Can't wait to see him line up. Seems perfect timing for him to develop alongside Coady and Tar as they are at the latter stages of their career. No reason they can't go another 6 years.

Also Garner and Onana alongside Iwobi and Gana. Brilliant cohesion in terms of looking to blend youth with experience. Also keeping the long term future of players improving greatly with time. Patterson, Myko and McNeil being others that will only increase in both value and the contribution to the team. Hell our keeper is still only 28 with brilliant back up.

That's why I was so impressed with recruitment this year. We all factors that needed to be looked at the future very bright indeed.

As many said shame Mina is a sicknote as he is actually good. But would take Coady and Tark anyday.

Our CB options next season could/ should be Coady, Tarks, Godfrey, Branthwaite and Holgate.

True br but I'm staying hopefully. I think making coady permanent is a must do. As well as the obvious benefit it also frees up the loan position if I'm not mistaken. That gives us flexibility and means we can avoid the bumped up prices hopefully.

Sry but imo if we sold Jordan Pickford for 40-50m we’d quite literally be having our pants pulled down.
