Trying to give a balanced view on martinez.
Pros.
1 improved squad. 2 reduced squad age. 3 improved our forward play.
Cons.
1 loyalty to out of form players 2 cannot coach a defence 3 substitutions and closing out games 4 woeful set pieces at both ends 5 stubborness.

Recent quote about not sending his team out to keep clean sheets but to win matches was ridiculous. We have won 6 out of 23 matches in the league so we are not doing either to be honest. We have scored 3 goals on 3 occasions tbis season and not won any of those games. Martinez is frustrating he could be a great manager if he developed the defensive side of his management or admitted he needed assistance. On a positive note he has improved our squad I just worry the lack of results it has produced will lead to it being broken up this summer. As it stands I would give him till the end of the season and look to make a change.

The thing is all he needs is to appoint a proper defensive coach. Even if he himself has little input into it.

Alex Ferguson was known for his delegation. Martinez should except where his weakness is and try and address it properly.

Would be not only in the club and teams interest but also his own. As you say he is stubborn and that could prove to be his ultimate downfall.

Isn't his assistant a defensive coach and the same assistant he had at Wigan. The reason I have a downer on Roberto (the Manager/ Coach not the man) is precisely because of his inability to admit the weaknesses in his approach and that of his staff. As to the Squad, well the majority were already here but the Squad has improved in ability and depth we are told, so how come we are not progressing!

One word DM stubborn. He thinks his ideology or method of play is flawless and will prevail. I think he see's it a means to an end. Imho he thinks we will ride through this bad patch and start winning games.

He's obviously looking long term with the signings he's making. The vast majority are under 25.

He seems to think that the team will eventually perfect his tactics and when that happens we will improve greatly.

Personally at the moment I can't see it happening. As long as we don't get relegated I don't mind trying.

That's the thing I don't agree with what I was saying above about Martinez but its my reading of what he is trying to do. You can call him anything but he's not stupid. There has to be some sort of long term strategy.

If there's not god help us. Because his stubbornness and insistence on his game could possibly get us relegated if not this season possibly next season.

We have actually spent 20 million in this window. Cleverly delefeu mori rodriguez lennon Holgate henen in. Alcaraz distain out. The mori fee seems quite high. Suppose the squad is marginally stronger. Just feel that we needed another keeper and a 10. let's hope we have enough to kick on now but I feel some other clubs around us have done better in my opinion. Now we have wing options in mirralas delefeu and lennon let's hop martinez plays them and not cleverly and kone out of position. I would go with when fit, howard baine stones jagielka coleman mccarthy barkley mirallas naismith delefeu lukaku. Get barkley in cm and get kev and delefeu running at defences. Naismith doing the running and closing down and lukaku putting them in the back of the net.

Al this is why i'm confused we didn't sign a 10 or a gk they would have improved the first 11. The squad looks stronger now though. An injury to lukaku though could be a disaster as rodriguez is unknown and kone is. kone. I can't help but think the 20 million could have been spent a bit wiser. However we have brought in 7 players and only 2 out plus galloway and browning looking useful. Only time will tell now though. Mixed emotions about the window 5 out of 10 for everton. Numbers good, quality questionable.

Cant get excited over these 2 signings from south america. Watched rodriguez on youtube some of his 17 goals look like they were scored on a sunday league pitch. Why are we buying a 500k striker from uruguay? Surely we could do better? We were poor at spurs yday. Lukaku is so lazy, at one point one of their cente backs is walking with ball, lukaku watches stationary as he brings it into our half, why not close him down instead of letting them build an attack. Got to say first time away at spurs and their fans were great. don't see much business being done by the club and if only 1 signing comes in then we are well short in squad depth. Keep hearing stones is not going but canthelp but feel if the price is right he will be gone. As it stands we have played 5 games and only had 1 convincing performance at southampton. Worried for the season ahead, we will be nowhere near europe as it stands.

We have a very difficult initial period with games against the top clubs. The first two away games we have four points, scored three and let in zero. The second of our home games was against City and the way they are playing and the money they have it is hardly surprising that we lost. The only points lost in a game we should have won was Watford. The problem with Lukaku is he does not seem fit enough to play two games in a week, he looked knackered agains Spurs. Too early to make any comment on the two from South America, give them a chance for Gods sake. Let's hope we can get in a good #10 before the window closes.

Heard on radio tonight we are linked to fazio from spurs. Not seen a great deal of him but why are we not talking to celtic about van dijk. Even if stones stays we need cover at centre back. i'm starting to think the board believe galloway browning and holgate can cover. I've said it from the day we signed him, get rid of mcgeady he wouldn't get a game at barnsley, who were great tonight by the way, hope they get promoted to championship. Martinez really can't coach a defence and I worry about recruitment at the back.

Great performance yesterday. I was negative last week about the transfer activity over summer, which I maintain. But surely someone at the club can see we are not far away from having a really good squad. Get 3 more players in cb cf and a winger and let's have a real go. We can either look at yesterdays game and say we have enough already to be ok or we can look at it and say with a few more players we can be class!
