Away from the striker debate for a second
Why did we chase Tyler Dibling just to bring on McNeil? Our side already lacks pace and I'm aware Dibling is not really fast, but he has quick feet, McNeil has the speed of the average premier league centre back from like 2007, he's so slow. He's a one trick pony and he's as good as he's ever going to be.
Did Moyes sign Dibling, see him in training and go "oh no what have I done"? I don't get it. He needs game time, he has a lot of potential, he can play on the right or behind the striker, but he's being left on the bench. Did the club sign him against Moyes' wishes?

What's his trick?

It is a bit baffling. When you look at some of the players signed for far less by teams like Sunderland that are having an impact, it seems that we’ve panic bought a couple of players for big money.

I hope not JB.
It doesn’t make sense to me. £90m+ on Beto, Barry and Dibling. The world has gone mad.
If Dibling and Barry come good, I’ll happily eat my words. So far, it’s looked concerning how little impact they have or why Moyes doesn’t play them. Who else could we have bought for that much?

Not sure how anyone can knock a young kid that has hardly had a look in since he came here. I know all the "experts" out there will say I saw him play half a game and he was crap. Come on half a game. Like Alcaraz, Rohl and Aznou he has gardly had a look in.
Now that would be understandable if the team was playing well but their not, and it's even more mystifying given the positions these players can cover are where we are weakest.
Moyes stated that he brought McNeil on because he has been really good in training.
What are we running a school team here? McNeil is slow and very limited in what he can do, no amount of training is going to change that now.
As for the Beto/ Barry debate. If we have to continue playing one of them because that is our tactic, then it has to be Barry. Give the lad a run of games and see how he goes. Or change our tactic and use the talent you do have more efficiently.

Barry, Dibling, Aznou. Moyes must have had a say in all of them (it is part of his stipulation) . Even with new finance savvy owners we didn't have money to burn on potential. Potential comes once you have an established deliverable squad surely. I don't get it.

It is quite ridiculous tbh Brass. The amount of players you hear of that are "good in training", not even just in football but other sports, sparring in boxing for example and then it comes to performing under the pressure/ lights and they go within themselves and look like a different player.
It works the other way as well, where players train within themselves and then turn it on when it matters.
Forming an opinion on Dibling when he has played 4 minutes away at Liverpool, 9 minutes in a cagey 1-1 with West Ham, a half against Palace where literally the whole side, bar Pickford turned in their worst half of the season and then 4 minutes in a buried game away at City, is absolutely madness to me.
Very much the same with Aznou who hasn't even played a single minute.
Sure it could be said that they mustn't be good enough if Moyes isn't picking them but how many times have we seen it before where players can't get a look in and then under a different manager they are in the side week in week out.
I don't have to see Dibling play another minute of football again to know that he is 10 times the footballer than Dwight McNeil is. The lad could be a very good player for us but his confidence must be taking an absolute battering, which is always worse for a player in a forward position as rhythm and confidence is what they thrive off.
If the plan was never to play him, then we should have sent him straight back out on loan to a Leeds or a Brentford to carry on with his progression.

Exactly BN. Young players need support from their manager, ours seem to be being ignored.
