If, as seems likely, we have to sell, to buy, then cutting our losses on Dibling seems like a place to start.
He offers nothing, when selected, and we do need to bring in player who can help cover, right wing, right back, and someone to score goals.

Not having a pop at Dibling, but whoever authorized a Ridiculous 42m for a player no ready to play in the prem, wants shooting.

Just baffling. Kids 19 has huge potential but let's just bin him and move on. I give up.

We have kids with potential in our Academy, U21's. I have watched this lad at our Stadium, he offers less than McNeil. Aznou in 15 mins offered more. Maybe if we could have acquired his 'potential' for Aznou's fee. As others have said, not the lads fault.

Actually just a thought, Grealish out until April, isn't Dibling left footed.

Do we have to sell to buy? I'm not so sire that we do. And let's give the lad a chance, it can take a while for new players to adapt to a new club and manager, whether the player is foreign or from these shores. Stupid to write him off without really seeing much of him.

25 Jan 2026 10:40:24
There’s no suggestion that we need to sell to buy, but it does makes sense to be cautious, especially where we haven’t been before.

I think Tim has useful attributes to be fair to him but he isn't intelligent or aware enough to play in the defensive midfield role imo. If we can sell him for a profit and put it towards an area where we need to strengthen, I think it makes sense.

He is not a starter over Idrissa, Jim or KDH and when Idrissa leaves, Armstrong comes into the mix. We also have Rohl who I think we haven't even scratched the surface with yet. He has had a few injuries and don't think he has played whilst being fully fit yet. He is also built like Ann Frank, so when he gets into the gym, he will improve from that alone.

I think turning a profit on who could arguably be seen as squad players is the way to go for us. If we can can get close to 20m on him, after having signed him for pretty much nothing in a PSR fudging Dobbin swap deal, crack on.

I agree BN, sensible business.

So basically had we only paid 10m for Dibling then everything would be ok? Forget the cost, our owners obviously see something in him that you don’t. I look forward to watching the lad develop over the next few seasons. Hopefully others do to.

25 Jan 2026 14:43:56
Whatever the price we haven’t seen too much from him yet. This could change of course. But for the price we paid, expectations will always be high.

25 Jan 2026 17:19:28
Is that why we have such low expectations of Beto and Barry?

Dibling just lacks confidence ATM. It's not his fault how much we paid. Maybe a few midweek U21 games to grab some form and confidence. There's definitely a player in there. I hate it when kids are new clubs get ripped to shreds. I remember a few games ago when he was subbed off.

Camera was on him sat on bench and he was just looking forward in a trance like state. Looked dejected. He needs our full support. Hope it works out for him otherwise it's yet another player we would sell at a big loss financially.

I’d say Dibling has already shown improvement in some aspects of his play. Before he was just ambling around waiting for a pass, not a good look tbh. But after a few games lately he has worked harder off the ball. I’d say he’s an expensive work in progress.
