Good afternoon fellow Evertonians. I know many on here will be split about having Romelu Lukaku back. I believe he would definitely do a job for us but still feel it's a backwards step, which in truth sounds weird.
I think we should be trying to unearth a younger gem ? who stays with us for a duration and if he has to leave after being a firm success then it's a win win we get a big fee and reinvest.
What are your thoughts.
{Ed025's Note - i think we have tried the young gem theory when we signed Barry TB, im afraid our scouts are unfit for purpose mate so for me we need an experienced striker who will guarantee us goals..even if we have to pay top dollar..

I think he was only on a 3 year deal Ed so will be up 2027 and by all accounts he is at odds with the club. Not sure if that translates to a small fee, as they are notoriously hard to deal with. Perhaps TFG's Italian know how can come into play?
I would take him back based on what we currently have to choose from. No question that his best days are behind him but he is an out and out goal scorer. The only put-off is that he is about to turn 33 in a few weeks and pace is/was a big part of his game.

The real question is whether the "Everton old people's home benevolant fund" is better than the "Everton's youth centre of untried and untested talentless individuals" Ed
{Ed025's Note - its a very valid point BR we are champions at both mate, now im not saying our recruitment team should get it right every time but my god we have had more than our fair share of duds, who actually watched Barry and thought " this guy has got something" and lets be fair hes not the only one, i could write a list as long as your arm but thats just depressing, i would also like the manager to be stronger and not pick these carrots who offer nothing and try to introduce some of the youngsters even if its only on the bench, i will leave it there before i start crying or tearing my hair out..
