I saw Galatasaray right back Elias Jelert a few times while he was on loan at Southampton last season and he impressed me. He’s still young at 23 but you can see there’s a proper player there. What stood out most was how well he handled the physical side of the Championship, he didn’t look out of place at all. His positioning, work rate, and calmness on the ball were consistent every time I watched him.
He’s not the type of right back who flies forward constantly, but he’s reliable, disciplined, and reads the game well. For me he looks like someone who could grow into a first team regular here with the right coaching. There’s a solid foundation already, and his loan spell has clearly helped him develop. I genuinely think he’d be a smart addition for us.
BlueNose, have you ever seen him? What's your opinion.

I didn't watch him in the Championship OS, so it is good to hear he dealt with the physicality.
He won the Danish Superliga with FC Copenhagen before moving to Galatasaray, where he won a league title and Turkish Cup double.
Everton were heavily linked with him in both 2024 and 2025 as a potential long-term replacement for Ashley Young, but I suspect his injury record put the club off. He still hasn't shown he can get through a full season as a regular starter, and doesn't strike me as the most robust full-back. I don't think he has made 30+ appearances in a season yet.
I have seen him in Europe, in the Champions League and Europa League.
I think he got sent off against Bayern when I watched him, actually, and I saw him against United when they won 1-0 and 4-3, and against City.
Technically, he seems a tidy player. He presses well, is comfortable in possession and is reliable enough defensively, but he doesn't offer a huge amount going forward.
I wouldn't want him as Everton's starting right-back, but I'd happily have him as cover. He should be available for a reasonable fee and, if it meant moving Patterson on, I think it would be a sensible piece of business, mate.
To me, he's basically a right-sided Mykolenko with more footballing ability.

Yeah that's fair, mate. I get what you mean about him not being the most robust, but from the games I saw at Southampton he handled the physical side better than I expected. He didn't look lightweight or out of his depth, and his positioning was consistently good. He's definitely more of a defensive, tidy full-back than an attacking one, but that's actually what stood out to me, he keeps things simple, doesn't switch off, and rarely gets dragged out of shape.
I know he hasn't put together a full 30 game season yet, but I think that's partly because he's still developing rather than being injury prone.
The Championship loan felt like a step forward for him. He looked more confident, more aggressive in duels, and a bit more mature overall.
I wouldn't say he walks straight into our starting 11 either, but I do think he's got the potential to grow into a regular with the right coaching. As cover, or even as someone who pushes Patterson, he'd make sense especially if the fee is reasonable. And yeah, the Mykolenko comparison isn't far off, but he's more defensively solid, tidy on the ball. He's not flashy going forward, but reliable. That's pretty much what I saw from him.

As I say, mate, it is good to hear that he handled the Championship physicality, as if he were to make the jump to the PL, it would stand him in good stead.
I think his injury record was pretty clean at Copenhagen, but then he suffered some lengthy injuries with his knee, hamstring and a few other muscle issues.
From what I have seen from both players, I would say he is already ahead of Patterson. I would just move the latter on, tbh, and said that years ago.
Some fans seem to think he hasn't had a fair crack due to his injuries, but, for me, that isn't something that should be overlooked.
You could be the best fullback in the world, but if you can never get on the pitch, what use are you?
I would be happy if he came in to fight for the RB spot, but I would want us to move for someone in the market who is more experienced in the top leagues, is bigger, stronger and has a bit more about them going forward, mate.
There are definitely decent buys like this out there in the market though and we have tracked him for a while, so it would make sense to me.
