Drunken conversation with my mate, why don't we bring the old reserve league back so ur players sat on the bench get a game every week instead of just training and sitting on the bench. I know a few play the odd under 21's games wen coming back from injuries. This 25 man squad is bollox.
Let them play against fellow pro's again who are trying to make the 1st 11. I'm fed up of well he doesn't play because the manager see's him in training every week. Get him on the pitch against someone else who wants to start for his team. Please tell me if I'm wrong.

You're not wrong, the idea of the reserves was to develop players in every position and to get them to play in a similar fashion to the first team. It also allowed players coming back from injury to build up their stamina and prepare them for first team football.

Used to watch them all the time, brilliant. Remember watching Moyes v Alardyces Bolton one evening, good crack with them.

Been saying it for years, mate. The U21 league doesn't prepare the young players for the rigour of professional football. Would benefit them to be playing against top pros coming back from injury etc.
