Garcia gone to Leeds. Can't get my head around that appointment, he is one of the last managers I would want coming into a relegation battle. Great news for us.

Bad news, Onana out for Villa.

He did keep Watford up but yeah it is a strange one.
Hes never done more than 2 years in any of his previous jobs and usually only lasts a year.

Villa going to be a tough one, could do with our best 11. Or our best midfielders atleast!

He did Smit but I think that was due to Silva more than him. He only joined in the Jan and was sacked by September I believe.

Agree TomTom. Hoping Dyche throws Garner straight in and refrains from using Davies.

Could be a chance to go 4-4-2, maybe Maupay and Simms/ Gray.

We are rubbish with 2 in midfield and always get overrun.
Could work with Iwobi as the 10 but dropping into midfield. Otherwise I'd stick with 3 in the middle.

Gueye, Doucoure and Garner for me if he’s fit enough.

If not, put Davies as the 6 and give Gueye more freedom.

Was thinking Iwobi being the 10 myself which would likely mean Gray on the wing, hopefully he takes the chance and adopts the work ethic and tracking back

Onana is going to be a big miss though.

{Ed025's Note - dont bank on Gray getting a start ST, i dont think SD trusts him to put in a shift mate and i think he will start on the bench and only come on if things go tits up and he needs to change the dynamic..

Chance for Garner to show us what he is made of imo. Tom is last resort. Either way I think has to be a change up to play with 2 more defensive mids and douc being allowed to attack. Hopefully SD has drilled into him and others to pull the trigger quicker and more often.

Villa have been scoring a lot which is a worry but they have been conceding as well. I still massively doubt our attack without Dom in it, even against a terrible defence. Another clean sheet needed if we want 3 points.

Anyone know if Dom will be fit? If he's not Simms to start and gray to come on with 20 mins left if we need a goal. Maupay shouldn't even make the bench.

What is with all this hate towards Maupay?

He’s played in the last 3 games and we’ve won 2.

He’s not scoring which is a bit of a concern, however he is a nuisance and winds up the opposition defence which unsettles them.

To say shouldn’t even make the bench is far fetched.

Would like to see simms and maupay play together, however not sure we’ll see that.

Because he's rubbish Dan. Did nothing in either game that we won, he was carried by the team. Scored 1 goal in 27 games. He's not good enough, adds nothing. He's even worse than Rondon.

To say he shouldn't make the bench isn't far fetched he's not good enough. If you think it's ok for our lone striker to not score or assist, hold the ball up, win free kicks, win headers or do anything of note other than be a "nuisance" then your standards aren't even low, they're none existent.

Maupay, without exaggerating, is the worst Everton player I have ever seen.

Agree he's not good enough but the worst player you have ever seen at everton you must have a short memory ?.

Worst Everton player you’ve ever seen?

So I’m assuming you never saw Per Kroldrup, Stephen Hughes, Andy van Der meyde, Royston Drenthe or Brett Angel play for us?

We’ve had loads of terrible players but not sure Maupay could be classed the worst ever.

It’s frustrating he’s not banging the goals in but no one in the team is.

You say he does nothing, yet against Leeds he had 3 shots 2 of which were on target, he made 1 dribble, won 2 aerials, made 1 tackle and won a corner - if that’s your definition of nothing, would be interesting to see what a player had to do to be classed as doing something.

He’s not an amazing player, never has been and personally wouldn’t have bought him.

However if dyche picks him he clearly sees something in him so I for one will get behind him and support him and the team.

This constant mindset of our fans that there always has to be a whipping boy in the squad is tiresome.

Not sure why we can’t just get behind the team and support all the players?

I can't see why or how he gets in ahead of Gray. He is truly awful and yes I agree one of the worst players I've seen in a long long time. Yet him being a *prique seems to be favourable to some posters. There must be a issue between Dyche and Gray or an injury (hopefully) because no one would ever pick Maupay over him. Yet saying that Dychey hates flair and entertainment so guess Gray is shut out.

Wasn’t banking on it Ed but was saying if he gets a chance I hope he takes it and adapts.

{Ed025's Note - i want to see it ST but if he doesn,t get in before maupay or simms then hes in trouble, we will just have to wait and see mate..

Out of the players you mentioned I have only watched Drenthe and he would have ran rings round Maupay. The others I've never watched so can't comment.

And my comment of nothing means he does nothing for the team. Of course he will get the odd touch but does nothing with it. Dom might not score and assist a lot but he does a lot for the team. I only remember one terrible tame shot straight at the keeper against Leeds. The other stats you refer to are terrible, not sure how you can use them to try and argue he isn't sh*t. How many times did he lose aerial battles? Lose possession etc. Then compare them his stats to Dom's. If you have a lone striker who doesn't score or assist often they have to do everything else to a very good standard to merit a place in the squad.

The main point of a forward is to score and assist. It's like saying a defender is good who can't defend but is a nuisance. A defender needs to make tackles, make interceptions, block and track runs etc. If they can't do their main job for the team they should not be in it. Maupay has 1 goal in 27 games. Not sure on assists, don't think he's got one since he's been at everton. Those stats do not merit to start as a striker for Everton football club. Those stats are the stats of a team not fighting for relegation but accepting relegation.

And it's nonsense you say I don't get behind the team, you don't know me. I get behind the team as much as anyone. I wish Maupay was amazing but he's not. But because I live in the real world and can see he's absolutely abysmal does not mean I do not get behind the team.

DCL is a great player when fit, however that is very rare these days.

He’s only managed 12 games and scored 1 in those.

Maupay has played 18 games and scored 1 and assisted 1 goal.

Neither of those stats are great however based on this seasons stats alone wouldn’t say DCL was that much better than maupay.

Drenthe was a quality player but he never really showed it for us, maybe one or two good games during his time. He was another lunatic who didn't appreciate the talent he had. I'd take Maupay all day only because he is an honest pro who isn't pulling the wool over the eyes of the fans.
He might not be the best player in the league, or even at our club, but he does put himself around and is a real nuisance for defenders. He's a forward who would play better with someone up top with him but we don't seem to play that way.
I think patience is required with those that haven't even been here a full season. It takes time to settle for some players yet we write them off because they aren't playing well in a struggling team.

In other news Onana is fit for the Villa game.
