Any info on the £34m bid for El Bilal Toure rumours that are circling?

Seems a lot of money for one player considering our current predicament and strange that we’d go that high for him yet not go in for Gyokeres, ndiaye or Piro who would potentially be available for less.

{Ed025's Note - i heard that it was closer to £40M for Toure dan, Gyokeres looks set for Lisbon mate..

Is this a goer than Ed? Or just paper talk?
From the clips I’ve seen, looks to have the physical attributes to do well in the Prem, scores a few goals in La Liga and has a trick or two up his sleeve. At 21, could be a wise investment.

{Ed002's Note - El Bilal Toure (S) An option to Gyokeres for Everton and of interest to Wolves. Almeria has rejected a low offer from Atalanta who see him as a Hojund replacement know that Mateo Retegui will move on, would demand his full buy out clause be paid in a single payent - and it is €40M. Prior interest of West Ham remains. Milan interest has gone.}

Don't know how our finances are but I'd be shocked if our bid is true. I just don't see us spending that much on a striker with so many other positions to cover too, but what do I know,!

We’ve apparently put an offer of €40m in today according to some journo via the echo.

Looks like could have legs as the source is the same guy that broke the news about Onana joining.

However whether Almeria agree to our payment plan is another matter.

Seems like a risk spending so much on a young striker as we’ve a shocking track record of doing that (Ramirez and onyekuru) .

However good to see we’re addressing the striker issue which for most of us would be main area we need to improve.

Whilst not great, if that is all we can spend then:

Defence should be ok with - Coleman, garner, Patterson, Godfrey, Keane, Tarkowski and mykolenko.

Midfield is covered with Onana, McNeil, iwobi, doucore, garner and gueye.

If any of those leave then we’ll need to replace them.

However if we’re savvy in the loan market and free players we could improve the squad for the start of the season.

Yep in four or five instalments apparently.

£35 million for him is far too expensive. Huge gamble on an average looking player. He is athletic but his technical ability, particularly his linkup play and passing is average at best.

On another note, that defence is far from ok but each to their own. If we head into the season with that defence we go down. Simple.

BN how do you know he’s too much? Have you followed his career or going off a YouTube video of him?

As for the defence, I think with a full preseason under dyche we’ll see an improvement - also got branthwaite coming in which will help.

Personally think goals are what we need and if buying a striker prevents recruiting defensively then so be it.

I know he is too much as there are plenty of other strikers available at much cheaper prices who have much better goal records and better attributes. Followed his career no, but we were linked with him in previous windows when he was still at Reims. If anything YouTube videos make bad players look good not good players look bad.

We will see an improvement under Dyche but that doesn’t mean that the defence you listed is good enough to go into a PL season with.

Patterson - still a kid and hugely inexperienced, not to mention physically unreliable.

Coleman - year older and had a bad injury before the season ended.

Garner - although a very talented player who I rate highly, is not a defender.

Godfrey - since C.V., a shadow of what he showed us previously.

Keane - utter garbage.

Tark - no comments.

Mykolenko - worst of the lot.

Branthwaite - happy the lad is back and has great scope but we are still in the dark of how good he will be in the PL.

Goals are very much what we need but you need strong foundations for the rest of the team to be effective. Why spunk the whole transfer budget on one unknown quantity when we could be smarter and get 2 strikers in for the same price and potentially defensive reinforcements as well.

To do the former would show yet more negligence and that we have not learnt from previous mistakes.

{Ed025's Note - are their any players you actually like BN?, no comment on tarks ?ffs, now im not saying our defence is great but they are nowhere near as bad as you are painting it mate, if sean wants Toure then im willing to take his experience and know how over yours, lets see how we are fixed at the end of this window before we start making assumptions and see if we can enjoy the ride..

The no comments on Tarks was because he is the only defender who has no question marks and is a quality and reliable defender.

I haven’t painted anything. I am looking at the facts and what we have been shown by all the players listed. Patterson has shown good signs but has fitness issues so it doesn’t matter how good a player is if he doesn’t play. Mykolenko should not be playing for Everton football club or any PL team. Garner i said I rate but it’s more square pegs and round holes. Keane is dreadful and has shown us as much in the 7 years he has been here. The defence was suspect last year and now we have no Mina and Coady.

I didn’t say I don’t trust Dyche. I think Dyche is great and if he wants Toure, then so be it. My point was that he is not worth anywhere near 35/ 40 million and certainly not worth wasting our entire budget on.

I’m not making any assumptions and don’t imagine the team will be the same come the end of the window. I’ve commented on the players we have at our disposal as things stand and clearly said in response to GD. If the defence remains the same as that list. We go down. Not entirely sure how that has been misconstrued.

{Ed025's Note - i agree that Myko and Keane are not good enough BN, but i think the others can do a job, but of course thats just my opinion mate..

I think Seamus can definitely do a job Ed but he is nearly 35 and has had some bad injuries in the latter stages of his career. I think Patt and Jared can certainly do a job but in the grand scheme, we are still in the dark on Patts ability to stay fit and whether Jared can cut it as a starter in the Prem (I think he can) . The lad is still 20 and I think we would be naive to not get another cb in to replace Mina/ Coady.

It would make sense to me to get somebody in like a Castagne or Maitland-Niles who is not going to cost a lot and can cover both fullback positions.

The same applies up top with Rodrigo. Spanish international and has shown he can score goals in the Prem. He can cover multiple forward positions and is apparently available for under 4m. Yes he’s old, with little sell-on value but with all our constraints he makes perfect sense to me. His price would also allow us to target a younger and different profile of striker at a bit of a higher price!

{Ed025's Note - we all have opinions on who we would like to buy BN, but thats the job of Thelwell and Dyche mate and we have to hope they get it right, seamus will only play a bit part i feel but his experience and love of the club will be vital for us imo..

He is top class Ed and should/ will go down as one of our greatest servants irrespective of the fact he probably won’t ever win a trophy for/ with us. Maybe he will come back and do it for us as gaffer!

{Ed025's Note - i would like to see that BN, hes one of the greats for me mate well certainly of modern times mate..

Of course we’ve got some replaceable players, don’t think anyone’s disputing that. At some point someone thought they were good enough. Holgate, Keane, Davies etc… were all lauded by some at one point. Getting rid of half the squad and replacing them with top talent and bargain prices is unrealistic. The aim should be to improve season on season, and from our starting point, that shouldn’t be too difficult. In regards to new players, It’s all speculation until we see them in action. £40 mill could end up being a bargain for the lad from Mali, or it could be a disaster. At least he’s young, and seemingly has some talent, which could mean he’ll be worth double in 3 years. Hoping to get a few through the door, every department needs strengthening if you ask me. Fingers crossed.

It’s probably smoke and mirrors again. Everton are good at that.
