The PFA are considering their position over this as it may create a hard cap on player wages. Similar was proposed and scrapped by the EFL. You also have a few clubs voting against the system, one being Man City who the PL are scared off. Intentionally or inadvertently you can't cap a players salary earning power.

That wouldn't stand up to a Bosman style legal challenge.

I think the only clowns are the PL. You can't have PSR without having a clear sanction structure in place. Asking for 17 points to be taken off is abhorrent, they are just attempting to show they can self govern and regulate. However they are just making themselves look incompetent.

If, as reported, they change the rules to financial penalty from next season, would that prevent possible points deduction and/ or firesales?
