Graeme Sharp is and will always be a legend of our club. For him to feel ostracised says far more about us than him.
If you know your history is a famous chant and yet it appears some don't.
I really hope that he is persuaded to return to Goodison before our final season ends there.

I expect pelters from some on this site but for me Sharp will always be a legend and a hero.

Couldn't agree more WT Legend.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think anyone would disagree that as a player he was certainly a legend Ron, but i dont think he done himself any favours when he was appointed to the board mate, we all thought he would be the voice of the supporters but it never turned out that way, he seemed to kow-tow to the hierarchy and a lot seemed to lose respect for the guy, a shame really because he will go down as one of the best ever centre forwards we have seen imo..

I personally wouldn't want him ostracised, however he severely compromised himself it was his decision.

I think you've pretty much nailed it ed025, however, in my experience pretty much everyone that is employed Kow-tow to their bosses in some way or another. Its alright having principles but they won't pay the bills. I don't have any animosity towards GS its not like he went out of his way to cause trouble he just didn't speak out when others thought he should. He was then made a scapegoat by some fans for the total and utter mismanagement of the club by the owner who should take the majority of blame. I don't actually think he was employed to be a spokes person for the fans I think he was employed to be a buffer between the management and the fans. A playing legend that has had his reputation within the fanbase tarnished by a decision he probably did even realise was going have the impact it did at the time he made it.

{Ed025's Note - I think you are spot on SA. Hopefully he can come back into the fold as for me it’s all water under the bridge now mate..

i agree and don't agree

as someone who is younger and these are normally aimed at (not saying you are here just in general)

i think everyone knows how much Sharp is an everton icon

however as Ed says, he's done himself no favours in senior roles @ EFC and actually found him really condescending to supporters.

{Ed025's Note - which is a pity WB. Hopefully he can resolve any issues he has and moves on to better things with us mate..

I think the error was appointing a player to that position. It requires a certain skill to be able to speak publicly. Something that most ex players would struggle with.

One thing though is for sure. He is an Everton Legend and deserves to be at Goodison. We are a club that currently only has history to celebrate, let’s not spoil that as well.

Ppl act strange under pressure - I think he is a top bloke really - done an awful lot for the club over many years - we all make mistakes and think he would/ should become back
- we don’t have many living heroes and he is definitely right up there for me.

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that Sobs..

I don't see what he did wrong in the first place. He said he didn't want to see scenes of players cars getting kicked or verbally abused. He didn't like getting threatened and didn't think threatening managers, board members and players was right. Maybe the only crime in my eyes is that he should have stated not all but some absolute pure idiots with no right whatsoever for this type of behaviour, were responsible.

If people are saying this was him backing the board, I'm not so sure you're reading it right. If you're saying this didn't happen then I think you're very naive. There's enough videos were players got ambushed, there's enough pictures of threats to Sharp, the board and managers to show. And I was at games where supporters were organising protests.

I can forgive him.

Should have give the job to Rooney ??? At the very least we would have a good laugh eh laar.

05 Mar 2025 09:27:40
i know he's recently said in an interview of he'l never go back to Everton

but i really hope they persuade him to change his mind on that, i'd hope the majority of that side is present at Goodisons final game

i'm hoping for Big Nev finally getting the serious appreciation from club itself that he so dearly deserves.

Spot on Wblue2.

Big Nev was the best keeper in the world for a few seasons. He is so down to earth and modest too.
He should be mentioned in the same breathe as any of our past greats.

WT I totally agree with you. i'm not aligned to him politically but he has every right to say what he wants and I never think any less of people. People can say whatever they want, its a free country. Imagine a world where no one gives their point of view.

For me he is our greatest keeper and to play so many games at the top level is an amazing achievement. I'm biased and don't mind being so, but he is my hero and think is the best of all time.
