My fat fingers!
As I started below. City are trying to get rid of players and our name seems to one of the first to be linked with them but there isn’t a chance (I hope) of getting any of them. Stone, Grealish and Walker are being heavily linked with us, but I wouldn’t touch any of these with a barge pole. Expensive wages and way too old to try and build a new exciting team.
Mitrovic! Again he’s 30 years old and on an absolute mega contract. So, I doubt very much this is one we are looking at. The same as with Ricky although only 28. He’s not going to get any better and has loads of injuries plus is on much bigger wages than when he was first with us.
Doak looked decent in the Championship but for £30m you would want to see real premier league experience. He’s quickish, low centre of gravity and a few tricks but he’s also had a couple of injuries and a quad injury, which I think he’s had, tend to come back. However, he’s young.
For me this summer we should be looking at players like the Doak’s. There’s plenty of experience in the squad, and we have one of the oldest. PSG have just shown what you can do by getting young hungry players (I’m not suggesting for us, that we are on the same level) . These young players have sell-on value whereas the older players will be on big contracts and offer nothing in the future in terms of value.
While we have this money it needs to be invested wisely and with an eye on development with the player and value, so we never end up with a summer like this again.
This number of players going this summer is a complete disaster made by incompetent people at the club. Players on contracts way above their value and therefore unable to sell and a lack of foresight in youth and player development.
100% though Moyes will sell Branthwaite this window and get a decent amount in. He is happy to sell our best payers to get money to reinvest in the squad. Anyone thinking he doesn’t only have to look to when he was last with us. We just need to get used to it which I am.
I’m hopeful though with Moyes he’ll have his ideas and plans on transfers, but I don’t expect more than 4 or 5 players this window with may be a couple of loans. It will be a gradual thing over the next 3 to build us back up again and then hopefully it’s about making each window improving on the quality of players.

We are in a totally different place from the first time Moyes was with us. We now don't need to sell players to generate income. Under our new owners we are a completely different animal, and this lot will want to see progression quickly or Moyes will be gone.

Yep and finally we can at last get rid of our poor average oldie players and recruit new decent players, TFG are the New Everton.

100% is a very bold claim mate. I don't see him going anywhere this season but, unless we improve our own standing, he will be off for European football some time in the future.

We need to be realistic, we will need to sell players to generate money every team does even those at the top and if we get a decent amount for Jarred, I trust Moyes to invest it wisely if it's needed to replace an awful lot of players leaving this summer.
Moyes has no loyalties when it comes to players and will sell any player he thinks will give him more money in the pot and will have players on his 4 step whiteboard of players to replace those leaving. He's very good at playing the hard done by manager to hike up the price.
We just have to not think we're bigger than what we are right now and accept it.

He might want to sell him, but he’s not the owner. They will make the final decision on if he goes or stays.

Branthwaite will only be allowed to leave if he requests it. If he stays then he will succeed Tarks/ Seamus as our captain.
It is nice to see us linked with players that none of us want simply because it means financial pressures are off our backs.
Can't wait to see who we sign and the move to BMD will give us a feel of being a modern club with top 5 ambitions.

I'm being realistic, JB is going nowhere this window unless it's a ridiculous offer. 100m+ but that's not going to happen.
Just seems like a rant about Moyes there mate in all honesty, all you're offering is your own opinion rather than any facts! The Moyes we had back in the day isn't the same as the one in charge now.
03 Jun 2025 22:13:33
Genuinely not a rant about Moyes. He'd be clever to sell him and get the money in. If we weren't losing so many players then I'd say keep him, absolutely. But he's not daft, he knows we're not going to have 100m+ to spend in this window so will need to generate money to fund players.
Unfortunately, and again not trying to put a damper on things, we need a lot of players and getting 70/ 80m for one player will help us in the market. Sometimes you need to make a sacrifice and Moyes has been around long enough and is wise enough to know that. And he's ruthless enough to make that call.

No worries, BJU. I see your logic mate but I just don't see us selling him this summer. I think we will have a decent amount to strengthen our very thin squad with no need to sell right away. That's not to say that we won't cash him in after another season or two, money talks after all. I actually think the lad is happy to have a season on the docks mate, he's certainly making the right noises about staying.

Am I the only one that has heard bad things about TFG? I’m pretty sure it was Ed002 that told us to be careful for what we wish for regards to them. I guess only time will tell but I know the Roma fans are not happy with them despite them winning a cup. They feel that TFG know nothing about football.
I’m not trying to be all doom and gloom but I wouldn’t putting my whole faith in them just yet.
04 Jun 2025 13:43:43
They have stabilised Roma and put them on a better footing but they, and they've already told us this, want their teams to be self sustaining. That means the budget we'll get will not be extravagant.
Some think they're going to spend 100, 200m but that is not likely.
I think next year is probably going to be better and on the years to come with big developments in and around the stadium to increase revenue.
Like Roma fans though, we are already setting ourselves unrealistic expectations.
04 Jun 2025 21:03:52
They might not know football, but they are employing people who do. And ultimately they will make the decisions.
05 Jun 2025 01:29:57
So, know one over 28, unless their on a free, and please, it really is time for DCL to move on, likewise Keane.
Yes they may produce elsewhere, but it's time for us to move on.

Why would we want to sign a player who has been plagued by injuries over the last few years? Doesn’t matter how much experience he has, if he’s not on the pitch then what use is he?
