Did anyone else catch the highlights of the Ethiopia game? I know I'm one of those who thinks Beto is absolute garbage, I reply to posts on here enough stating just that. But his miss at the end of that game should really open the eyes of those who constantly tell me he is actually ok. Got to be his worst one yet, I'm just glad it wasn't in a blue shirt.
We definitely need a new forward in January, its just a question of who is available and who wants to come.

Think it’s more about how much do we have and how big a wage do we want to pay.

A player would have to be crazy not to want to come to play for us. The major problem is that there are so few really good strikers around that teams who have one will go to any lengths to keep them. Scouting the lower leagues or International leagues looking for young gems seems to be the only way to go and even then we could get another Barry. Defenders are so good, big and powerful in the Premier league these days that finding someone who can score on a consistent basis at that level is going to be very difficult! We also have some young kids who may come good but it will take a few years to determine how good they will be. In the meantime it looks as if we will have to rely on Beto/ Barry who at the present time are not doing the job required.

Think they will have to loosen the purse strings to fill this position mate. We've tried the younger players with potential and it hasn't served us very well. Hopefully we have some targets we are working on before the next window.

Couldn't agree more, BlueMike. Maybe we identified forwards in the summer that we had no chance of realistically signing as we did get knocked back by a few, if the rumours are correct. Be interesting to see who we are linked with closer to the window opening mate.

Agree it was an awful miss.
However the likes of Messi and Ronaldo have also had awful misses in their careers - it can happen to any player.
Not sure why as fans we always want to put down our own players?

Crazy isn't it, Bobby, we've wasted a fair few quid trying to bring in a decent forward. Let's hope lessons have been taken on board by the recruitment team by the time the window opens again.

TA, that's the kind of delusion some of our fans have when attempting to defend the indefensible, its mad how they keep trying to tell is that the lad is actually better than we see!
GD, I'm not putting him down at all, I didn't call him any names or get personal about him, I just stated facts. Fans are allowed to express their opinions on our own players, I pay my money to go the games so I will also tell it as I see it. I don't want to accept mediocrity at my club and he is below that level for me.
Comparing Beto to Messi and CR is the funniest one yet! How many goals have they scored between them? And Beto? Show me a clup of both of them players missing a chance like the one I was talking about and then we can take that comparison seriously. I doubt you can though.
