Good win the weekend I was sceptical about the team selection but I got absolutely got proving wrong but nothing new but anyways back to my point ed 001 just 3 var things I want to pick you out on mate obviously the 1st one was vvd my opinion that goal should of stood just wondered what you're opinion was on that disallowed goal me second point when I watched everton vs Fulham we conceded a foul and it was a free kick but tarks an bassey where both grabbing eachother shirts 20 yards further an before Fulham took that free kick the referee for some bizarre reason gave Fulham another free kick where tarks committed that foul which I have never known you can give another free kick before the previous one is not taking also watched Brentford vs Newcastle and think burn commits a foul for the 1st penalty decision but var overturned Brentford decision which in my opinion was a penalty so just basically my real question whose at fault for these decisions is the var booth getting involved to much are the referees relaying on var before making a decision why is the linesman not getting involved as much IE he should of waved the flag after vvd goal which he didn't appreciate for foughts an opinions mate.
{Ed001's Note - I agree with you on the VVD goal, not that it would have mattered as Liverpool deserved nothing from that match, but it should have stood. However, it is subjective, so I could understand if it wasn't that the same ref had allowed a goal in almost the same circumstances previously.
I have to admit I was a bit surprised, as I thought when the ball was dead free kicks could not be awarded. I need to read through the laws of the game again, as I might well be wrong, but I thought they could card people but not give a free kick.
The Brentford one was weird, as the one they stood by was less of a penalty than the one they decided wasn't one. It is getting ridiculous as they are so inconsistent, when VAR was supposed to make it more consistent. Even though I make a point of quickly rereading the laws of the game before the start of each season, I am completely lost by at least one decision in each match I watch this season. It feels like the officials are poorly trained and do not know the laws of the game as well as they should, so they get decisions wrong. VAR should be there to step in when they make mistakes, but it seems to be even more prone to mistakes. They need to get specialist, independent VAR operators to run it, rather than these useless cretins who officiate the matches.}

Great feedback ed 001 yeah that everton free kick what I mentioned in the post was really baffling but my personal view the refereeing this season has been so poor you mention the rules I totally agree they need adjusting the hand ball rule also needs to be addressed woudnt know where to even start mate if am honest ?.
{Ed001's Note - they keep making things more complicated, when they should be trying to simplify it.}

The biggest issue with VAR is that the people using it in this country have a very low standard of refereeing. It’s just simply poor and unless the officials are schooled better then this will not change. I have no issues with the system itself, just the quality of officiating on and off the pitch.

Rules constantly changing. I remember when a goal kick had to be kicked out the 18yrd box, ball was in quarter circle on corners and at kick off you all had to be in your own halves and ball had to be knocked forward into opposition half of field at kick off. It's all too complicated now. Rules change every year and even players can't keep up.
That Fulham player who was on a yellow should of been red carded after pulling KDH back when attacking. There's no consistency in refereeing now. And var supposedly only there for clear and obvious errors seem to stick their noses in to every single aspect of the game.

I don’t know why but that corner thing drives me mad. It’s more like a free kick now.

Think he was deemed offside interfering with play which he clearly wasn't, there was another one where a player was called offside when he was clearly (clear and obvious) pulled offside.

Better swing, I remember the days when we took the flag out and the linesman (assistant referee and all that danglers) put it back after the kick.
