Ok let's lighten the mood a little, if we did need to look for a new manager (yes I know GB it should be Moyes forever, it's just a bit of fun) who would you go for. Let's have a short list of say three names and why you think they would be good for the club. Can be as outlandish as you like, it's just a bit of fun.

My three would be:
Howe, Young manager who has served his time and has his team playing good football.
Glasner: Won FA cup then had his best players sold off. Plays attractive quick football, and will be available end of season.
Iraola: Has his team playing with pace and skill. Nothing short of amazing given the size of the club.

{Ed025's Note -mine would be..
1..Howe
2..Iraola
3..Marco Silva
I know my third choice is contentious because he has been here before but i think he has grown as a manager and plays good football..

Agree0 Disagree0

He was in the crowd for the United game, Ed. ?

{Ed025's Note - i think he was a bit unlucky last time around BMD and the club was not in the greatest shape at the time, i dont think there is a lot of good choices out there to be honest mate..

Lee Carsley knows the young players already and understands the club. Iraola plays attractive football and is used to operating with restrictions. Glasner would probably relish a new challenge and was not helped by Palace selling the core of the team.

Would the next manager stand up for slaughter?

Christian Ilzer (Hoffenheim)

Cut his teeth as a coach in the Austrian leagues after his playing career was cut short due to injuries. Won a league and cup double with Strum Graz, ending a decade long dominance by RB Salzburg. He won the cup again the following year and secured a spot in the group stage of the CL.

Hoffenheim came calling in 2024 and he hasn't looked back since. He took over when Hoffenheim were in a relegation battle and steered them to safety. He currently has them sat in 3rd place, only behind Dortmund and Munich.

Loves pressing high with aggression and intensity, aiming to turn the ball over and transition into attacks. With the ball, the likes controlled possession and build up play and to create goal scoring chances through movement from his midfield.

Not rigid in his approach, often switching between 3-4-3, 4-2-3-1 and 4-4-2 depending on the opponent. We would definitely need to buy a few strikers as he has plenty to choose from atm with Asllani, Lemperle and Kramaric all chipping in with goals. Hopefully he could tempt one of the first two to come with him. I would love us to go after either of them to replace the shower we have atm.

Loves bringing youth through and nurturing promising players.

Seems to have a calm head on his shoulders but is very ambitious, unlike our current manager. Has stated that he wants to return Hoffenheim to the top European competitions and even challenge for the Bundesliga by 2030.

Michel (Girona)

Has done a great job at Girona. Achieved promotion with them and managed to get them into Europe. Has achieved multiple mid-table finishes with them which is some achievement considering their size and the teams they are competing against. He was awarded La Liga manager of the season in 2023-24 and has won manager of the month 4 times. He sat at the top of La Liga for a sustained period of time a few seasons ago but then unfortunately dropped off but still managed to achieve CL qualification.

His teams are known for a modern, proactive and flexible playing style that blends solid structure with attacking ambition. He likes his teams to keep the ball and build patiently from the back, controlling the pace of the game. His sides work to draw opponents out of position to create passing lanes and spring attacks.

Seems to switch formations depending on the opponent but favours a 4-2-3-1 which would not be too much of a change for our players. He likes to use full-backs and wingers to stretch defences and create overloads, which will be something very new to our lot! Players inter-change positions to generate space and unpredictability in the final third. Is not against playing inverted full-backs- diamond midfields and sometimes even a 3-1-3-3 formation to create overlaps depending on the opposition.

Without the ball, his team love to press collectively to recover possession quickly and it is often in advanced areas, disrupting opponents' rhythm and setting up counter chances.

Claudio Giráldez (Celta Vigo)

Progressed from youth and reserve team to become first-team boss in March 2024, succeeding our friend, the fat Spanish waiter.

Emphasises structured defending transitioning into quick, controlled build-up play. He often opts for numerical superiority in midfield and encourages full-backs to support attacks. He does not stick to one formation and seems to flip between 3-4-3, emphasising width, to a 5-4-1 when he needs to be more defensive and compact.

Doesn't seem afraid of integrating the youth players and trusting bringing academy players into the first team.

Seems to have really tapped into a strong emotional connection between players, coaching staff, and fans, boosting morale and collective performance under pressure.

When he took over Celta, they were deep in a relegation scrap and he saved them pretty comfortably. He then took them to 7th and secured Europa League football. He is the quickest Celta manager to amass 100 points in La Liga. He has taken Celta on multiple unbeaten streaks.

I watched them play away at the Bernabéu in December, where they frustrated Real and secured a 2-0 win.

We would certainly need to get some fullbacks in for him but he seems like he would suit the squad we have and wouldn't be against bringing some of the lads who have been shut out into the side.

Have never said Moyes forever, BB. Get your facts right before printing xxxx. I have said all along he was the best man for the job at the time, and yes, I would give him a couple of windows. As for Howe, no thanks, he will be next for the chop.

26 Feb 2026 14:45:39
Gb, lighten up, man, it's just a bit of fun. Bn, excellent reply, mate. I have to say I was only really aware of what Claudio Giraldez had done. But I would be happy with any of those three. I mean, let's face it, fans are always asking why we can't pick up managers like other clubs. Well, there are three.

26 Feb 2026 15:54:33
Gb, would you trust Moyes with a summer budget to fill the gaping holes we can all see? I remember he was able to unearth a wee gem from the lower league, but does he still have the knack? I'm not really sure. I'd be worried he'd buy players to suit his hoof the ball up and pray style of football.

26 Feb 2026 16:06:41
That is it, Brass. Hopefully we can get the next Iraola, as opposed to having to pay silly amounts of compensation to get them out of a club, like we have been stung for before, mate. I would be happy to take a chance on any of them 3 tbh, but Illzer and Giraldez would be my preferred order.

26 Feb 2026 16:17:54
1. Carsley for me. Knows the club, knows where the decent youngsters are, doesn't wait to change things if Plan A isn't working, and has a Plan B and C. 2. Carrick. Always rated him, and he will be a top manager in years to come. Got slated on here mentioning his name last year.

Still in a honeymoon period at United, but not doing too bad for them so far. 3. Allardyce, because he never stops moaning about how we never gave him and his wonderful style of football a chance, and because obviously he knows everything about football. ??????????

26 Feb 2026 16:29:05
I reckon he can, mate. After what he's done, he certainly deserves a crack at it. Only my opinion.

26 Feb 2026 17:39:49
You know what, GB managers and players are all marmite, mate. Love them or hate them, the one constant is the club, and most of the comments I believe come from a love of the club.

So whether it's DM or someone else, can we please, please hurry up and win something so my kids can experience what I did in the 80's, mate. ? NSNO COYFBB

Tbf, Ron, you did shout Carrick up!
