In six years, Aston Villa have gone from the Championship to 4th in the Premiership, so it can be done. But the first thing you need to do is get a top manager. We nearly got it right with Ancelotti, even though the guy was still on a limited budget.
What we need to do now is spend big money on getting a top manager before we even think of buying players. Get him in and let him decide who to keep and who to release.
The last thing I want to happen now is to see the club keep Moyes and let him bring in the players he wants, only to see him binned half way through the season and have another manager be stuck with his squad.
So if we are going to make the change then it has to be pre season to give the new guy the best chance to build a side.

This would make the required difference, but the TFG seem more than happy with a mid table finish, and I'm not just talking about this season; they seem to lack the ambition to see the club back challenging for football's major prizes.
