Like many on here I've supported Everton for a long time and it becomes much more than just a game on a Saturday. To put things into perspective when I was younger, once I passed my driving test I didn't miss a game home or away for over 20 years and blew the engine up on my first car (a Ford Anglia 1200 Super!) travelling back from Sheffield midweek after seeing Duncan McKenzie score a cracking goal in a cup game. For those who aren't familiar he was an extremely skillful player who the then manager Gordon Lee didn't like because he wanted him to be more of a grafter (sound familiar!) .

Anyway, this may be a little laboured, but my point is that in the middle of last week I'd actually forgotten that we still had a game on Saturday and thought that our season was over. I know technically it was but I thought it was actually over. For the first time ever on Saturday I watched the game with no enthusiasm and a feeling of inevitability, which is a shame as I'm a bit like GB in that I've never predicted a loss.

I've come to the conclusion that supporting Everton comes with its own form of real depression. I've never felt so low or totally empty in relation to the footballing side of things at our club.

I think it's probably down to the fact that with half a dozen games to go we were nailed on for Europe and we blew it yet again due to Moyes and his combination of factors that should make his position untenable. I know that there are more important things than football, but it does become part of your daily life. It may be close season but I'm obviously not alone in saying that Everton related thoughts are still present on a daily basis and sometimes take priority when they shouldn't do.

I will admit that I didn't want Moyes back and wasn't too bothered when he left the first time. I honestly feel that anyone other than Dyche would've kept us up and that Moyes should've gone once we were safe. Another season of Moyes will only drag the club further into the depths of mediocrity. My hope for the close season and going forward and this is probably a forlorn one is that TFG have the courage to take the necessary steps to take the club forward rather than waste another season and substantial funds with Moyes.

Being Evertonian we live in hope. Take care everyone.

Good post mate, I too had a Ford Anglia, but it was a 997 cc, always wanted the 1200 buddy.

Took me ages to save up for it. It was white with a blue flash GB and got me to plenty of games before it gave up the ghost and was replaced by a Sunbeam Rapier.
