I get the idea of “we need to be like Brighton and Bournemouth because they’ve done well over a sustained period of time and we haven’t”. Cool.

“Aston Villa bought well and we haven’t, we cannot expect to compete with them”. Cool.

Problem is, how did Sunderland get Europe then after coming straight up to the Premier League after basically changing their entire squad? Do they operate on The Flash time, and while it looked like one season to us, to them it was actually 20 seasons?

Sunderland destroy any argument Moyes or people who agree with him make, because they haven’t taken years, they haven’t got amazing world class players.

So how did Sunderland manage it in one, yet we are called unrealistic for wanting a bit better than 13th place after our manager spent a load of money in the summer only to not play most of the players he chose to buy.

We are stuck in a rut, and Moyes' stability season is over. Now, let's not allow mid-table mediocrity to be our resting place. Make changes where we are standing still. That applies to all aspects of the club. Stadium, being the biggest issue over time, is now sorted.

You'd think the rest is pretty much achievable now.
Sunderland, Forest, Leicester, Swansea, etc. have all done the impossible, and many others. Let's hope the club can make the necessary changes to allow us fans to see some success too.

The whole thing starts with the manager. If he has a negative mindset, then so will the players. Playing not to lose, then losing just saps all the life out of the team. We then get the manager saying certain players are not doing enough in training so he doesn't pick them. Where's the motivation, where's the man management?
The Spurs game summed it up for me. The game was there to be won but the manager had us sitting deep and the inevitable happened.

Then, with only a few minutes to go, he made changes, and we got players on the pitch who actually wanted to attack, and we looked a different team. The galling thing is these players have spent most of the season on the bench, because the manager doesn't think they work hard enough.
Keep this manager and we will remain a mid table team, and nothing will change.

{Ed025's Note - im with you AD..

Anyone could get a team in the top 6 of the prem nowadays. The football is poor, the managers are poor. I reckon I could get Everton in the top 6 in that league and I've only coached at junior level for 14 years. Honestly anyone that has anything about them would be able to fly up that league.

The standard is really really poor. Anyone could do it. This is not a joke. I honestly believe there is some plonkets in that league and if Sunderland, Fulham, Brighton, Forest, Villa can do it anyone can.

Always been a fan of Moyes, but we seem to be stable again now, perhaps it is time to get a progressive manager and let him spend some money. I do worry that Moyes seems to prefer the older players.

That's what Bournemouth and Brighton are doing, so if we are looking to follow them, perhaps before the season starts is a good time to do it.

{Ed025's Note - unfortunately that is not going to happen Dev..

I'm absolutely staggered! We have spent the last 4/5 years worried about relegation, but this season we had no concerns on that! Do fans expect us to be challenging for top honours? I hope not. It's a building process.

Yes, we probably should have done better this season given the position we were in, but I for one am happy to be clear of danger by Christmas and hope we can progress over the next couple of years.

{Ed025's Note - i get what you are saying Leicester i really do, but if thats the height of our expectations just to survive then it shows how far we have fallen mate..

I genuinely don't get how "a bit better than 13th" is the same as "we should be challenging for top honours".
