Bit concerning that Moyes is still looking at Delap. I think his purchase would see Moyes gone. No better than the 2 up front at the moment and no right back to be seen. He is concentating on midfield recruitment, which is a bit mad when a right back and a goalscorer are the main two positions we desperatley need to recruit in. Another poster said about the World Cup and the silly season prices: there are a lot of players not at the World Cup who would fill those positions and not cost the ridiculous prices that now will be quoted. There are a lot of players in Norway, Sweden, Belgium and all the European players who were not picked for the World Cup were available.

But as usual we wait for the last minute and then agree rediculous prices for players who were in a World Cup or European Championship squad who didnt play, instead of agreeing deals before these championships, doing pre window deals and then not being held to ransom for mediocre players who were not involved but in these squads. Typical Everton but wee not the only ones. Could do with another centre back aswell in my opinion

Other than Spence, are there any other examples of these players?

If we are buying Spence off the back of his WC, that is diabolical. If we were interested beforehand and he is one of the top choices, then get him in.

If we feel the price is inflated, then just walk away and move on - it's quite simple.

Personally, I think he is a good player but not someone I would be getting caught up on. Plenty of other RB's out there that are better players and represent much better value.

As always, we put too much stock in the press tattle. There'll be a plan, we may have to be patient with a few players as they weigh up other offers. It's where we are as a club at the moment.

That's the point, JB, just because we've not been linked to many players in the press doesn't mean we aren't actually trying to sign anyone. There will be a lot going on behind the scenes. I am frustrated we haven't signed a right back, given how long we've needed one, but I am hopefully, (pretty sure) , we will get one in soon.

The Delap rumours are probably well wide of the mark too, and just journalists having to write articles. I don't actually think a striker will be signed, unless one is sold.

Over the last 20 years we've spent about 12 mil on the right back position. Think we've only bought Coleman and Patterson as proper right backs and there's the problem plain to see, not enough investment into the defensive weaknesses we've had for years. Let's buy tall centrebacks and squeeze them in somewhere.

Moyes does have a major say in identifying targets. Delap is no better than Beto but better than Barry, although Barry was indicating both he and Beto are staying.

{Ed025's Note - thats all we need DMS...FFS..

Players will need to leave before we bring more in, not necessarily for financial reasons, but because we already have squad players and aren't in Europe. When Patterson, McNeil and a couple of others go, more will come in. If we sold or loaned Barry, we'd obviously need another striker.

{Ed025's Note - just getting rid of Barry would be bonus for me JB..

Ffs are we in for another season of mediocrity under dithering Dave? Thought people were saying what an amazing window for us, pie in the sky as usual, new owners same old same old.

{Ed025's Note - its early yet BB but i must admit its not looking too good at the moment mate..
