Wondering on what people’s thoughts on… If the only forward we could bring in this summer is Delap, would you take him?

The general consensus seems to be that the fans don't want him. There was a reason that Chelsea went in for him in the first place and we would have happily taken him last season. No transfer is without risk. He may be worth a punt.

Sometimes it's not the player turning bad overnight, more of the team not playing to their strengths. Remember Salah at Chelsea? He was dire. Then became one of the best goalscorers in the Premier. Thierry Henry played out on right wing for Juventus, then off to Arsenal who played him in his best position.
He wasn't too bad. Delap has goals in him. He proved it at Ipswich. He could flourish at Everton if he signs.

He got 12 goals in total for Ipswich in 38 games, 2 of which were penalties and their style of play was built around him, so not a great return (I don't like including penalties in a striker's goals tally) .
At Chelsea, he seems to be more intent on playing the hard man and trying to rough people up than improve his general game.
In answer to the question, there are certainly better strikers out there, but if bringing him in meant that we got rid of Barry then I would take him.

If the option is stick with what we have or try something else, I think we have to go with the 'something else'.
