Saturday was a good result, so don't want to be too negative, but Moyes' statement that we've been trying to sign a right back all summer and not been able to is baffling. Below is a list of just some of the right back signings which have already happened for other clubs this season.
Wan Bissaka → Villa
Juanlu Sanchez → Bournemouth
Wheeler-Henry → Chelsea
Costinha → Brighton
Palestra → Chelsea
Mingueza → Crystal Palace
Dedic → Newcastle
Meunier → Sunderland
This isn't even all of them, either - I'm not saying they're all world class, but how bad is our scouting and transfer team if we seemingly can't even find a desperate stop-gap and our only options are playing a CM there, or a huge CB?
I've said on here before, do they know they work year round, and not just during the window? We should have had a player signed up months, and they walk through the door the day the window opens, as opposed to waiting until the last week and trying to get someone like Walker or tempt Zabaleta out of retirement.
If I ever lose my job, I pray I can get one as an Everton scout. You work 1 week a year, and there is apparently absolutely no performance reviews.

What he actually said is that they have to be better than we have already and that finances are a factor. Rohl, Garner and O'Brien can play at right back. If we wanted any old right back we could just play Petterson.

Good read that, Alex, mate. Think the players you have mentioned have potential, Dedic being one. I have heard bluenose mention the same about Sanchez as well, which sounds like we missed out on a good player there. I also know that Wan Bissaka was offered to Everton, but apparently Moyes didn't want him, which I found bizarre, but Im hoping, fingers crossed, we do get a new RB, which we really need, a new forward as well, who it is I have no idea.
But also, how does it take 3 transfer windows to identify a new RB, and yet here we are still looking for the right player for that position? Its madness. ?

It's a bit of both for me. I agree we should know exactly who we want by now. Had contact with all the people's agents to see if there's a possibility of a deal. You may not get what you want, but then, if you have a list, maybe the next one you will get.
I have a feeling the player we want is still being assessed at their club and we are waiting for the outcome. I still feel Rico Lewis is who we are after, as it's a bit strange how late this transfer is taking.

I think whoever it is must have Premier League experience as Moyes will need to break them in otherwise.

As BluePasty states, we will have a list of maybe 10 for example and we are still probably trying to hold out for no1 or no2 on our list, but depends who they are and circumstances at their clubs, then when your preferred targets go elsewhere then and only then you have to go further down that list. Angus Kinnear made a point of this and we are still trying to get our Number 1 target through the door.
It's a pain and we have all waited long enough, but hopefully we will be smiling if we get our required target.
As for strikers, would love to see Richy come back or even better Ollie Watkins, that would be fantastic.

Reference a right back.. You don't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you get what you need.
