One click bait rumour with no basis in fact and the majority of the fanbase go into meltdown. Would it really be a disaster if he did leave? I can think of a dozen players I'd be more disappointed to lose from the squad. If he does want to go, let him go, we'll survive.

Right on the Bull there, JB, mate.

I think his games at CB were Bournemouth (A) - W, Forest (A) - W, Aston Villa (A) - W, Leeds (H) - D, Arsenal (A) - L, and then he played the Sunderland Cup game, which was a draw, and then we lost on pens.

The sample size is tiny. Also, most of his games were away from home, which is where most of our success came last season.

I think he looks a decent enough player, but if we lost him, I wouldn't bat an eyelid, as long as we had a replacement coming in. Keane should never put an Everton shirt on again if we are serious about winning football matches. Tarkowski has been on the wane for a while now, and his drop off is getting dramatically worse as time goes on for me.

JB is a top quality player, and I have personally been of the opinion that his injuries were mainly down to his body adapting and growing into his colossus frame, being a young lad, but it is still a concern going off recent history.

For how big J'O is, he is s***e in the air and timid. He doesn't have decent pace and turns like a cart horse. We could sell him for decent enough money and turn a profit on him, and I think it would be very easy to improve on him.

Matte Smets would be my top target and would be a great partner with JB.

Robert Renan would be a more unknown and cheaper alternative. Shades of Yerry Mina, who, when fit, was a brilliant CB.

Nathan Zeze, who we have already been linked to, is another option.

Madness, mate. He's an average CB at best, only slightly better there than at RB. As you say, if this is not a rumour, then let him leave. We would get more than we paid for him, so it's not all bad.

As BN has pointed out, and his knowledge of players is outstanding (playing that bit down a bit so he doesn't get a big head ? only joking with you, pal) , there are plenty of better options out there at reasonable prices, so it won't be a massive loss at all.

For me, he is slightly better than Keane, so I think we will survive him leaving.

Hahah, love it, BP.

Hoping that there is a fair bit of movement in these last few days of the window, mate.

If I am not wrong, we have 2 loans left available. Could you imagine if we got rid of Patterson, Tim, Charlie and Beto for around 30/35m and managed to bring in a RB, LB and Striker.

That would represent a very good window for us! One can dream, ey!

It's a non-story, only picked up by the click bait trash pages. He's not worth selling yet, and he will probably end up a pretty decent CB. We always lose one, sometimes 2, for a period, so he's not blocked out of the start 11 at all.

Absolute tripe being served up this summer, as clubs tighten up their staff to stop blabbering to the press. Same stories from 3 years ago, ffs, are doing the rounds. Jesus, ffs? May as well sit in the arrival lounge at the JL for a more accurate list.

So, played six, won three, drew two and lost one to the league champions. But the guys rubbish. ?‍♂️

25 Aug 2026 12:19:33
Me too, BN, and I think there will be a few through the door whether we sell anyone or not. Not too sure if we need to supplement transfers in by getting rid of players, but I wouldn't argue if we could raise a few quid by selling those you mention.

We will find out in a week, mate!

BB, who said he was rubbish? I said average and slightly better than Keane. If we could get a good price then reinvest on a better player then that's good business for the club.

25 Aug 2026 12:41:13
You are making out the only reason we got those results is because J'O played CB Brass.

Also, I can't see anywhere where someone has said he is rubbish.

"I can think of a dozen players I'd be more disappointed to lose from the squad" & "I think he looks a decent enough player", and, as BP said, "average and slightly better than Keane" (ok, that last one does equate to calling him s**** tbf!)

As I say, most of those results came away from home, where most of our best work was done.

The lad is an ok defender, but if he went, he is easily replaceable and not too difficult to improve upon imo.

25 Aug 2026 13:44:03
Well, if you are comparing him to Keane, then he has to be rubbish. You keep throwing names out there, but none have been tested in the Prem. Jake has, and if you all think Tarks is a better centre back than him, then fair enough. Just got to hope Branthwaite doesn't get injured, eh.

25 Aug 2026 14:36:13
Neither had JB until he came. Brass and Palace had him in their ranks and got rid of him.

To add, I would rather have J'O playing ahead of Tarkowski.

Tarkowski is gone now and has been on the decline for a while.

25 Aug 2026 18:04:14
Well, we can at least agree on that, BN.

26 Aug 2026 02:27:39
I have no problem at all with Job leaving, but not until we have a replacement. I would be very fearful he won't be replaced, then the back line would have Tarks, Keane and Mykolenko in it, again.
Branthwaite's minutes seem to still be managed carefully, so he will be rested, and if he gets injured, we will be back to the back-line that finished the season so poorly.

Tarks' stats last season were among the top centre backs in the league, but that's not what my eyes have seen watching him every week.
