7 Premier League clubs are looking at him, and his preference is to join us. Middlesbrough want £20m+ and we won't go higher than £15m for the Championship Player of the Season. We'll lose out and one of the other Prem clubs will get him, and his value will sky rocket. We'll be left with a last minute outcast who nobody wants. Typical Everton business.

The Club can't seem to win. They have rightly been hammered for spunking silly money on signings and paying over the odds over the years, but now this new team seem to be showing a bit of shrewdness. They get pulled up on that too.
The lad has apparently said we are his preferred choice, which can only strengthen our negotiating position. He is a Championship player and is entering the final year of his contract.
Why go and waste another 5 or 10m if we don't value him that highly.
Plenty of other options out there for us should this not come through.
If he wants us that badly, he will decline the advances of the other clubs (for now) and will be in conversations with us, where we will be keeping him informed of our intentions to bring him in, but at the right price to us.

Sensible and measured posts are rare during the windows, well done BN. Plenty to be frustrated about at the end of the season, but we have to look forward now.

Agree with the frustrations, JB. There are plenty of them. You are right. We need to look forward and give this new team at least one summer window to prove their worth and silence any doubters. If they fail again, then that is the time to hammer them.
If we think he is worth £20m and add-ons, then it is up to us to match Palace's bid. If the rumours are to be believed, Hackney will choose us over them anyway.
If we don't match it, it means we don't value the player at that amount.
I personally am not fussed if we don't get him. His profile is similar to Jimmy and KDH - both are proven in the PL and have already shown us they can perform to a high level for us. I would rather us prioritise a proper no6 that can do the other side of the game.
