Can any of the eds shed some light on if there is any truth to the Barkley rumour or if it's just paper talk?

{Ed025's Note - they have not made any offer TC but have declared an interest i believe mate..

1.) 15 Dec 2016 18:39:52
Hi Ed still waiting for a reply mate I had a vision you were doing cartwheels down Woolton Village after our win on tues.

{Ed025's Note - i will post a picture of it on the site if we beat liverpool AB.. :)

2.) 15 Dec 2016 19:13:41
You said if we get one point Ed.

{Ed025's Note - fair enough AB i will do them over the holiday and post it on here, after all a promise is a promise mate.. :)

3.) 15 Dec 2016 22:06:29
So as we got all three points does Ed escape? 🤔.

{Ed025's Note - i cant see him letting me off that easy ST.. :)

4.) 15 Dec 2016 23:17:31
I was thinking it might be letting any potential onlookers off from being scarred for life!
There are some things people can just never erase from their memory! ☺️.

5.) 16 Dec 2016 14:34:44
Hi ST another thing is Ed said he was going to shoot the bar in my local golf club hahaha it's going to be a good Christmas this thim.

{Ed025's Note - bull bay is in march AB so i will have plenty of time to save up mate,, :)

6.) 16 Dec 2016 17:11:56

8.) 16 Dec 2016 18:15:40
Hi Ed what do you think of Callum Wilson do you think he good enough?

{Ed025's Note - not seen a great deal of him to be honest AB but what i have seen i like mate, whether he will be good enough is subjective..

Morning Ed's. Wanted to ask if there is any truth in the rumours of us being interested in/ making an approach for Koulibaly?

See he is linked with a number of clubs at the moment.

{Ed002's Note - Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly has continued to attract the attention of a number of clubs and there have been discussions with Chelsea, who have been given the asking price, then they made an offer and now they have been given a new asking price. Interest of Bayern Munich has gone, interest of Manchester United may have gone. Interest of Arsenal is rather tentative but will likely come to nothing. The player has been talking to Napoli about a new contract but his demands are higher than Napoli want to commit to. Right now I am told Everton has not spoken with Napoli.}

1.) 14 Jul 2016 11:18:05
A meeting is due to take place today with Napoli, if all goes well John Stones will then be on his way out, only what is been rumoured on Merseyside.

2.) 14 Jul 2016 11:44:52
really can't see koulibaly coming to us, would b good, but i think there will b teams playing european football who he may prefer to go to.

3.) 14 Jul 2016 13:03:53
Thanks Ed. Appreciate the feedback.

{Ed002's Note - You are welsome.}

05 Apr 2016 20:51:08
This isn't meant as a doom and gloom post more just for interest sake but these are the players I can see going in the summer (excluding those who will be out of contract) .

Interested who you blues would realistically have replace them:

Howard (definitely going)
Lukaku (pretty sure he is leaving)
Mirallas (gets minimal game time so must be going)
Stones (likely to leave)

1.) 05 Apr 2016 21:01:27
i agree with top three mate but just have a feeling Stones will be staying, can't see Mr Moshirir getting rid of two gems at once mate, he will need to make a statement, would like him to stop lukaku too as he has 3 years left, that would be a bold move.

2.) 05 Apr 2016 21:23:47
Hope you're right Murf. Think Stones is more likely to stay than Lukaku.

Who would you want to see replace any/ all of those?

3.) 05 Apr 2016 22:37:00
begovic, bony, yarmolenko.

4.) 06 Apr 2016 00:33:56
Leno,yarmolenko, lacazette and Fabien schaar

5.) 06 Apr 2016 08:49:19
Lads I think Rom gone and we will replace him with either one of these strikers embolo, silimani, lacazette, bony or keita balde diao would like yarmelenko but think he will go to arsenal so I would go for dennis Praet, rafa silva or nadir fekir keppers would be begovic or Heaton premier league experience essential and Fabian schar as defender lads what u think about playing one of r under 21 players for r next match against WWatford I was thinking of Kieran Dowell the lad is class with a great left foot.

6.) 06 Apr 2016 21:39:51
I reckon bony would be a good punt dentielad similar type of player to ROM and scored goals for fun at Swansea sonhas proven record in the prem. Yarmalenko would be a perfect fit but if the rumours are to be believed the red shite fancy him as well.

27 Feb 2016 06:02:05
The Daily Fail now says we're being taken over by some middle eastern investor with the deal to be concluded in the next few days. There seems to be no real conclusive lead on this takeover. Wake me up if/ when it's over.

21 Dec 2015 18:29:20
Seen we've been linked with 2 keepers. Pretty sure it's nothing more than rumours but wouldn't mind Mandanda. Ed's don't suppose there is any truth to this?

{Ed002's Note - Aston Villa and Stoke are both looking at Marseille's Steve Mandanda with interest from elsewhere (notably Crystal Palace, Atletico, Spurs and Arsenal) seemingly gone. There was speculation that Everton had submitted a bid for a January move - but the offer that has been made is from Aston Villa. He is out of contract in the summer and Marseille would ideally like a new deal. They would prefer not to sell in January as it gives them a goalkeeping issue they don't want right now. I don't know where the supposed interest of Everton has come from but it would not be out of the question - but the lady who would know is not contactable right now.

As for the second GK - let me have a name and I might be able to help.}

1.) 21 Dec 2015 19:31:59
i think he means boyko.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any but Everton interest is not out of the question as he is available and will be moving in January. Roma have dropped their interest in Dnipro's Denys Boyko who looks to be on the way to Besiktas - possibly even as part of a double sale including centre back Douglas.}

2.) 21 Dec 2015 19:39:50
It was Boyko. Thanks very much ed002. Appreciate the feedback.

3.) 22 Dec 2015 00:13:26
thanks ed I read they share same agent.

4.) 22 Dec 2015 00:53:47
yarmo and boyko I mean.

Must say I've been impressed with Robles lately. He's been something of an unsung hero for me and has made some really important saves. His command of the area is much stronger than what Stek's is and his distribution is much better.

I also saw a stat that he has the second best save percentage for any keeper since December (only behind De Gea) . Our defense looks much more assured when he's on the pitch.

All that is pretty impressive for a guy who basically seems to have been told by various managers on a fairly consistent basis that he's more a number 2 than a number 1.

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that CT, yesterday he was right up there for MOTM for me mate..

1.) 16 Jan 2017 21:21:38
Agree with you Ed. That stop he made in the first half when Silva was free in the box was crucial. Was glad to see RK didn't just put Stek straight back in the team even though he was fit. Think Robles deserves a run of games.

Now that I've bigged him up he better not let in a howler this weekend.

{Ed025's Note - probably CT.. :)

2.) 17 Jan 2017 00:14:18
Martinez biggest downfall imho was sticking by Howard. Robles could develop into a very good keeper with time.

If I remember correctly Koeman mentioned before that he'd rather have 3 keepers of similar ability competing for the number one spot. Rather than one keeper being the clear number one with a less competent number 2.

Maybe he changed his mind on that but I'm almost certain he mentioned that in the window last summer.

12 Jan 2017 18:47:03
Is there a reason why certain transfers reflect the transfer fee and others are undisclosed? I don't really care what a player costs but more just interested why this is done.

{Ed002's Note - All transfer fees (every single one) are recorded on the TMS - none are "undisclosed". If a club says that it is simply because they do not wish to discuss the money at the time.}

1.) 12 Jan 2017 19:21:49
Ok great. Thanks Ed.

{Ed002's Note - No problem.}

07 Jan 2017 19:59:18
I get that fans are upset that we lost but it feels like that everyone is still expecting miracles overnight (especially after this week) .

1.) 07 Jan 2017 20:20:01
Should have beat Leicester mate. That's hardly asking for miracles, one up then threw it away. Remind me, how often has that happened now?

2.) 07 Jan 2017 20:30:51
Yeah no doubt we should have beaten them but my point is more that we have been inconsistent all season and have been terrible against teams we should have beaten (e. g. Norwich, Crystal Palace, Watford, Burnley, Bournmouth etc) . Why would that change now?

I'm also not being a naysayer here because I feel like the club as a whole are moving in the right direction but our form on the pitch this season has been erratic at best. So I just find it weird that when the inevitable low comes after the high that everyone is so surprised and starts calling for heads to roll.

{Ed025's Note - im afraid thats just human nature CT mate..

3.) 07 Jan 2017 20:53:41
Yeah guess you're right ED. Let's just hope things start moving in the right direction.

BTW did you ever get round to doing those cartwheels you promised?

{Ed025's Note - not yet CT im waiting until my health improves a bit mate but i do aim to get there..and without the st johns ambulance guys on stand by.. :)

4.) 07 Jan 2017 21:03:30
Ha ha, you better have them on standby anyway ED. We need witnesses to confirm this actually happened :)

{Ed025's Note - i intend to video it mate...its a coming.. :)

20 Dec 2016 13:02:15
So this is not derby related but what does everyone make of our current captaincy situation.

For me Jags has never been the best captain. Barry and Baines seem to be able to do a job but for me none of these players really seem to be vocal enough on the pitch or to be able to get the side going.

Williams seems like an obvious captain but might be a big ask for someone who hasn't even had a full season at the club.

I would reckon Coleman could take us in the right direction. He's incredibly vocal on the pitch, seems well respected and has enough experience with the club and in the league to make more of an impact than what we are getting from our current captain (s) .

1.) 20 Dec 2016 14:54:57
Williams for me.

Or, if RK decides to keep his faith in Barkley - why not show complete faith in him and make him captain next season? It could be the making of him giving him the responsibility that Gerrard had across the way.

He would sink or swim that's for sure, and it's not like there's a long list of alternatives.

2.) 20 Dec 2016 16:23:00
Coleman or Barkley.

3.) 20 Dec 2016 17:17:19
Coleman has become a really good international captain. He has some fire in his belly. You may not agree but he's exceptional for Ireland since the captaincy. Plus he might stay with that faith shown to him.

4.) 20 Dec 2016 19:58:43
Coleman or Williams would be my pick too.

Must say I'm not sure making Barkley captain would help his game. He looks like a player at the moment that is under enormous pressure and doesn't seem equipped to handle it. Feel like making him captain would just make that worse and see his form and fragile confidence crumble even more.

{Ed025's Note - ross will never captain everton, hes not very vocal and to be honest hardly leads by example CT..

5.) 20 Dec 2016 21:06:51
The lad's (Coleman) an animal, he would make a cracking Captain.

12 Dec 2016 13:09:23
Thought RK's comment in the press conference about not relying on the transfer window to fix problems but fixing them now was pretty good. At least he recognizes the danger of our current form and how quickly we could fall down the table.

1.) 12 Dec 2016 13:37:39
Apart from the fact that transfers tend to drag on so very unlikely we will get anyone in at the beginning of the transfer window, new players need time to get accustomed to their new team, new environment (especially players from overseas) and new system. So Koeman is being realistic that the existing players have to step up right now. New players will probably only have an impact for the last quarter of the season if that.

2.) 12 Dec 2016 14:28:48
So what do you suggest BlueMike? he does nothing?

3.) 12 Dec 2016 15:50:11
Try to fix what's broken and bring in some fresh blood is what I took from the conference.

4.) 12 Dec 2016 16:17:13
Get rid of the bad apples (and there are a few) and the rest will perform.

5.) 12 Dec 2016 17:43:12
No Grumpy I suggest that he gets in new players but just being realistic that they will not have an immediate impact and that he needs to start getting results with the players he has now. If I was getting the big bucks Koeman is getting I could give you a report on how to achieve that but I am not.

Ed when you say Everton will have the option to make a proposal do you mean in the same as any other team would or that our sale of Rooney to Utd included some kind of clause or option?

{Ed002's Note - There are no clauses or options in any contract like that?}

Informative as always. Thanks Ed.

{Ed002's Note - Agents and "representatives" get involved in all sorts of matters - some even get involved with the brokering of the sale of clubs - others have to babysit players. Two quick stories you might enjoy. (a) a Premier League player who couldn't drive had his agent organise the purchase of an expensive car that was rolled out of the garage when he was visited by the press etc. for interviews, demanded the car was replaced a year later with the latest model in a different colour. He still couldn't drive - but it was image. It had a couple of hundred miles on the clock. (b) a northern-based Premier League player who had put clothes in a washing machine but had no idea how to turn it on repeatedly rang his agent in the South East for instructions on how to use it. This was eventually solved by the agent persuading someone at the Worsley Park Marriott to send a housekeeper (or similar member of staff) around to his house to do his washing and instruct him and his girlfriend in the use of the machine. I will say that both players involved are English.}

Thanks Ed.

Out of interest what sort of role would he play in the negotiation? Presumably each club has their own people involved in the negotiation and the player would have their agent so what would be the relevance of including a third party?

{Ed002's Note - It is not uncommon for third parties to undertake negotiation on behalf of clubs or act as a go between.}
