Well, with a top class centre forward on the pitch tonight that would of been a 3-1 or 4-1 away day victory for the toffees. top striker has to be 1st transfer priority in the summer, Moyes knows that for sure after tonight.
{Ed025's Note - and a couple of wingers i would say Elvis..
26 Feb 2025 22:14:40
Yeah, like beto but has to do better there. Thought alcaraz played very well and looks a decent player. I thought tarkowski was immense and done of his Long diagonals were class.
Harrison lindstom offer very very little. Mykalenko confuses me at times I see a player in there but he's pretty poor going forward, feel we are crying out for a top left sided player, maybe sulemena from Southampton. If we are looking at right back then I would want far better than Kyle walker peters.
26 Feb 2025 22:14:49
We already have the best 3rd best striker in the league behind Haaland and wood, if he didn’t play tonight we don’t get back into the game, he bullies defenders and is a nightmare for anyone. Salah misses all sorts is chances it seems certain players get judged with a microscope.
26 Feb 2025 22:20:06
Understand what you're saying Ed about wingers, but I guess in an ideal world with Ndiaye and McNeil available, the 2 wingers who played tonight would be a squad players. We're not in a position yet to have 4 top class wingers I guess.
{Ed025's Note - yeah TBT they are 2 big losses for us mate..
26 Feb 2025 22:50:21
Hahahah so he is better than Isak is he. Utter delusion.
26 Feb 2025 23:11:14
BN, you beat me to it mate ? I'm trying me hardest not to even talk about beto as some posters don't seem to like those who call him out! Today, however, just went to show us all how far away he is from being premier league class. As has been said by myself and countless others, the lad works hard. That's as non critical I can be on him.
26 Feb 2025 23:32:55
On a par with isak for me Mike.
27 Feb 2025 00:22:12
TB, are you seriously comparing Beto to Isak? In what way/ universe is this a possibility? Really?
27 Feb 2025 00:45:44
Beto is doing better than Dom has done for the past few seasons yet people here want to get rid and give DCL a new contract ?. Neither of them should be our starting No9 but at least Beto looks like he's trying.
Moyes will already know the areas he needs to strengthen and no doubt Thelwell will already be working behind the scenes to secure those players. We won't attract world class atm so building sensibly for the next few windows is what's needed.
UTFT NSNO IMWT.
27 Feb 2025 04:39:24
Dcl isn't much of a benchmark, WT, in all honesty mate. We need to replace both him and beto as well as not signing Lindstrom or Harrison when their loans expire. Two wide players who haven't scored or assisted this season, not a good stat that really.
27 Feb 2025 08:00:31
I think we have to keep Beto for next season and 100% let Dom go without offering another contract.
Dom (when he actually does play) just simply doesn’t score enough and with his injuries he is so unreliable.
Hoping Chermiti comes back from his injury and makes an impact next season. Add that Beto can now “hit a barn door. ” If you add 1 more striker maybe with something a bit different about them (fox in the box, type poacher, or one with tonnes of pace) . Then this could be a decent forward line.
{Ed025's Note - im not saying get rid of Beto BBN, he can have a role to play going forward but for him to be No1 striker he will have to up his game imo, his hold up play and finishing needs work but i cant fault his effort mate..
27 Feb 2025 08:43:07
I do like Beto's commitment and as Ed says, probably does have a role to play going forward, but not as first choice striker if we want to seriously challenge for Europe. If he was 21 years old you could probably see potential in him, but at 27, he should be just about in his prime by now, not still learning his trade.
I do think he has a role to play and would be a good asset coming off the bench and covering for injuries.
{Ed025's Note - thats how i see it as well TBT..
27 Feb 2025 09:12:15
Yeah I reckon we should keep Beto, nobody can fault his effort and he clearly loves the club and the fans, DCL is not a benchmark to be judged against as his goalscoring stats have been woeful of late, we need a new no.1 top striker, Lindstrom should stay as he is showing potential, get rid of Harrison, couple of new wingers, midfielder, left back…& mayb replacement for Brainthwaite if he goes.
27 Feb 2025 10:04:19
For all the people that don't rate Beto if he continues to score at his current rate of 5 in 10, since SD left, would you still want to get rid? TBT I think his age is irrelevant our best player is also our oldest, so until his physical performance drops then I don't see it as an issue. IMO we are going to need to bring in at least 10 players for next season and taking a large chunk out pot we will have, just for a striker doesn't make sense to me. If Beto's form continues then I don't see the need for a new No1 striker, his contract expires in 2027 so that would give us another season to make
a decision whether to keep or sell. At the moment I would rather strengthen other areas of the pitch as a priority.
27 Feb 2025 12:37:35
I am not saying get rid off Beto at all sa, I think he has done really well recently and much better than I ever envisaged he would be. As far as age is concerned, we talk about him improving certain aspects of his game such as hold up play and distribution. My point is I would expect a seasoned pro of 27 to already have these skills to be able to play in the prem. Maybe I expect too much.
I would certainly keep him though and hope he can continue his good form.
