I think it is absolutely crazy if we renew Doucoure's contract.

If our recruitment team cannot find a suitable replacement in the market, then they need culling.

- He isn't very good, so finding someone as good or better shouldn't be too tough a task.

- He is on 120k+ a week which is absolutely insane. We need to bring the wage structure down. You can throw Keane and DCL in that mix too.

- He is old and will not get better.

Surely the likes of Garner, Tim, Alcaraz and Armstrong are better options than him just from a financial perspective alone.

Look at the teams in the bottom half this season and look who their 10's are - Buonanotte, Hutchinson, Fernandez, Maddison/ Kulisevski, Eze, Paqueta, Smith Rowe.

Madness.

If they are giving him a new contract and it's the same money and only for a year which would mean £5m in wages.
If we were to buy someone I imagine we would spend £20m for an average player these days plus wages.
Maybe the finances aren't that great and it's a cheaper option especially as so many are out of contract.
I'm not saying we should or shouldn't offer him a contract but it might be the lesser of 2 evils with the way the club has been run lately.
All I know is that Everton are the greatest club in the world.

By all accounts Armstrong did very well on loan - whilst he may not yet be ready for a starting role in the premier league we need to start integrating him in to the first team to see if he can step up.

Alcaraz looks good in the 10 role, hopefully we make his move permanent and then look at giving the likes of Armstrong some game time to see if they can step up.

2 news articles side by side. First says Al Hilal offer 3 million pay deal for him, Second we have changed our mind. Slow news day me thinks. If Al Hilal want him, they can have him.

12 May 2025 14:31:18
Sorry Al Shabab, not Al Hilal.

12 May 2025 17:53:51
I was reading it was Al Shabab at £3 million which equates to £58 grand a week they then give him a huge signing on fee, Saudi pro league can have him.

{Ed025's Note - i will hire a camel and take him there.. :)

If £58k a week is his best offer then we will either tell him to take it or offer him a lot less. Not as if he’s 23 and ripping up trees now is it. There’s plenty out there better than him but they need to want to play for us, bird in hand and all that.

Steady Tiger.

I would rather play the camel than Dacoure.
