I feel like I had the same moan last year; seem to be watching other teams do fast business (as if somehow they are prepared after a long season of planning) . While we yet again ponder over what could, but inevitably won't be (like we've been twiddling our thumbs all year) .

What on earth is going on?

The reality, though, is that most Prem teams haven't done any business yet. Whether they sign now or in a month, they'd still have another month before the season starts. I'd rather we signed the right players than just do business quickly.

{Ed025's Note - that will be the telling thing JB...IF we get the right players, whether your a Moyes fan or not the quality of any new signings is paramount mate, going for experience and buying players who are in the last throw of their careers would be a massive mistake for me, yes maybe one or two who can offer something different but we dont want a plethora of has beens who are coming for a last pay day, now im being pessimistic here and just hope that we can get players in who will not only improve the side but also build for the future, if this does not happen and we dont get off to a good start the knives will be out for the manager very quickly and even those who can stand him will be baying for his blood...and rightfully so, but heres hoping that we have a good window and get off to a flier and all the negativity surrounding the club is put firmly to bed...cheers..

We need to get this transfer window spot on to push forward next season. We all know the positions that need attention & I assume the club does too.
Getting quality players in is never easy & is extra hard when you can't offer European football.
Two full backs needed, maybe a replacement if Branthwaite & Ndiyae leave, definitely a reliable striker too.

We are linked with some good players, but I'd prefer us to just go & buy who we need before it gets into the papers. Don't be the Everton of old where we lose transfers over a couple of million. If we want them, pay the money & get them.

Agree with JB, plenty of time to bring in recruits. TFG will back him. If he gets it wrong, then he will be gone by Christmas, I would think.

Look around at other teams, Spurs putting in bids, Leeds being pro-active going after Wilson. Meanwhile, a lot of the players mentioned are players we've 'held an interest in'. If you keep saying no to pieces of pie, hoping you'll get the perfect slice by being patient, quite often you'll find yourself eating crumbs.

22 Jun 2026 11:43:19
Leeds haven't signed anyone, they're no further ahead than us. Look, I get the frustration, but let's judge the signings when they happen, not on paper talk, which we know from experience is just click bait.

I'm with you, JB, but I'm sure you were saying similar last year. We ended up with still no Rb, Grealish on loan (only bit of good progressive business in my opinion) , Thierno Barry, and young Rw that we haven't seen or heard from since. It is worrying, and I'm a little fed up with the attitude of "they know what they're doing, have patience" when it rarely turns out to be the case.

I'm pretty sure Fulham are further along in their business than us, having put in a bid for Wilson, and Tottenham are going after players aggresively. Not even a rumour of a bid from us, JB, does feel like much of the same.

We can look back now and say that not all of the business was good business. At the time, Grealish, Barry, KDH etc seemed to demonstrate a step in the right direction. No Rb was, as you say, criminal. Going for players and getting them are two different things. We can go in for as many top players as we want, but we have to accept that we are not top of the pile.

As I've said countless times, I understand the frustrations, and I am not at all saying that Moyes is blameless or untouchable. We can't do anything but sit back and watch. Whatever players we sign, we have to do the business on the pitch from August to December, or I suspect he'll be gone.

22 Jun 2026 12:33:16
I don't think Moyes or TFG are bad appointments at all, compared to 3 years ago I'd much rather be where we are now thanks to both of them. KDH was as well a great bit of business (one I left out in my previous reply through having a brain like a sieve) . I just feel we all urgently want to push forwards, and I do not want to get to the middle of August again, watching other teams re-building their squads whilst we've only just decided to start being serious about players, but it's too little too late.

I honestly hope I'm wrong to feel that way, and that I'm moaning about nothing, it just feels like we've been here before. Thanks, JB.

You're on a hiding to nothing, JB, with some on here, mate. DM will have at least till Christmas; if our results are poor after the new signings, he will be gone, of that I have no doubt.

22 Jun 2026 13:26:46
I do share the concerns of Welsh and others, GB. We have a lot of work to do, and some of the gaps we have in our squad have been gaps for a long time. I keep telling myself that Moyes and TFG will want to be successful. He'll be pushing for the owners to sign better players. Fingers crossed it works out.

22 Jun 2026 14:08:32
So do I, mate. If he gets it wrong this time and the squad does not get improvement then he will be gone by Christmas, our current crop of players several of which are not good enough.

22 Jun 2026 17:41:49
Sorry, guys, rant over, I promise. I know you've both been around the forum for a long time, and you've probably seen the ups and downs and the emotions run high on here plenty. Onwards and upwards, I hope. Next year I can be on here celebrating a good season and hoping he doesn't let any players go rather than begging them to bring some in!

22 Jun 2026 18:44:48
No apology necessary mate. We all want the same thing. Some green shoots in the first half of the season, easily forgotten with our dreadful run-in. Onwards and upwards, let's hope.
