Sorry, but if anyone thought Dibbling and George had a good game today, I must have been watching a different game. Dundee were not a good side yet neither players were able to go past their full backs. Both of them either went inside, and ran into trouble, or just passed backwards.
I thought a couple of the U21 players, Tamen, Foster, made far more of an impact, I'm not writing Dibbling off, but he's a long way from a regyplace in the first eleven.

Will Tamen was excellent last year from Tranmere monster of a centre half, can’t see him ever breaking through under Moyes and with all the current options. Send him back to Tranmere if you don’t mind toffees, along with Omari Benjamin.

It's that time of year again.
It's the very first game of preseason. They have been back to it for a few days, so the performance isn't a priority just yet. These games are about fitness and match sharpness.

It is about fitness etc etc, but for most players outside a select few nailed down starters, it's also about winning a place in the team, earning the gaffer's trust. Players had a chance to impress yesterday and didn't take it.

I'm not sure that's the case in the first pre season game. I'm sure, towards the end of pre season it will be. With half the teams missing, sometimes better players make others look good with what they do with the ball. I'm certainly not going to judge anyone on 1 pre season game.

One friendly game and the knives are out for Dibbling already. It's as though some of our supporters want him to fail just so they can say I told you so. Very sad that.

The first game is not about impressing anyone, mate. It's about blowing off the cobwebs after a summer break. The first game of preseason isn't going to get a youngster his starting place for first game of the season, especially since they are probably only getting game time due to the international players having extra time off.
Towards the end, with a full squad to pick from, is when the lads on the fringes have to take their chance, especially when the opposition is of a good standard.
