Well, what a load of crap the World Cup has been, from start to finish it was like something from Disney World. If this is the future of football, God help the fans who love the sport, in my eyes it's gone forever.

Infantino (pockets full of brown envelopes) cowtowing to the orange baboon (sorry baboons) , Americanised. And what was that 3rd place playoff all about, come on lads we're off out back for a kick about. USA should get nowhere near hosting another such event

Agree with that, Skylark, never seen such crooked refs and downright cheating in my life, mate.

Turned the world cup into a circus to please an American audience.what a farce that half time show was.good god.cameras focused on celebrities. who some of them were god only knows.openly cheating and utter disregard towards the officials at times.and the next world cup should not entertain Argentina

There should be an independent review into the whole thing. The game is awash with greed and cheating. Political figures brazenly attempting to gain influence over matters on the pitch.
I have never seen it as bad as this. We've been told that the English standard of referees is poor.

Are you kidding me? Last night's was either corrupt or incompetent. Either is a major red flag.
And finally, 30 minutes half time to get those idiots on my television? Was that the day that football died? Perhaps the Euros on home soil will be sufficient to resurrect it!

I think we need some perspective, some questionable refereeing for sure, but the refereeing was a long way off the corruption of the 2002 World Cup, where the refs tried to take South Korea all the way.

3rd place play off has basically always been there, and the top goalscorer has always included it (Fontaine got 4 of his 13 goals in it) .

Argentina have always been dirty and got away with it.

The Americanisation, however, is worrying if that remains beyond this World Cup - and given the money it bought in, I worry it's here to stay.

The highlight for me was actually the refs, for a large part of the tournament, ignoring the constant play acting of players and regularly just letting play continue as these idiots floundered on the floor. Just felt like, as the games got bigger, they lost their nerve to keep that up.
