I think today was a really good start to season whether we want DM as our manager or not. The lads did us proud, especially refreshing was the performances from our new recruits, Armstrong, Rhol, Hackney, George. They played their socks off. I would hope we can now build on this and hopefully get a couple more in before September. COYB

Not trying to argue the point, GB, they all played well, but come on, Armstrong has been with us since he was a lad, and Rohl and George were on loan last year, they were just not used much. They are like now recruits, and hopefully will continue to be allowed to contribute.

Again, they were not our players last season, they were on loan. We bought them this year, so they are technically new signings. Bar Armstrong, obviously.

On loan means that they were capable of playing for us, so hardly "new"! Regardless, it's great to see them getting a game and playing well. Pity we did not see them more at the end of last season.

Last season has gone, mate, we look forward to the new one.

Let's not get hung up on debating whether new recruits or not.
Washington, good to see them get more minutes.
My biggest criticisms of Moyes has been his reluctance to play those players, and also to make better use of substitutions.
Today he put faith in them, even if a little forced upon him, and I think Rohl took his opportunity well. Great player and perfect attitude. I have liked Rohl even back in his Freiburg days, and he's always looked good at U23 for Germany.
George is another I have liked back in his youth days, and Carsley speaks highly of him, he says he could become a good number 9.
Armstrong I was thinking might get another loan to develop, but he warrants his place in the squad with his preseason and performance today.
I feel Barry is improving.
Branthwaite was immense, makes such a difference at the back, but makes me nervous every time he goes down.
Ndiaye was lively and tricky.
Hackney was solid, good signing, and smart thinking for the free kick to slide down for Ndiaye and then a lovely cross and great finish from Barry.
I did have to laugh at the lads behind me and my wife with their "your just a s**** Jordan Pickford" chant at Henderson. ?
Really good weekend up on Merseyside COYB.
{Ed025's Note - it was good win ST and i know we rode our luck at times but thought we played well, Barry has improved...hes only terrible now..

Good post St.
Branthwaite makes my heart jump every time he goes down too! I just think he is so key to us that we know what we'll miss if he goes off.
