Jack Grealish will cost Everton until the end of the season approximately £12 million in wages and add ons. Amazing amount of money to sanction.

But there was no fee, so £12m, all-in, is not bad for a player of his quality.

Well, we saved about 100 million by not signing anyone else, so it's a good job we did get it sanctioned.
04 Sep 2026 10:20:40
That's what you are upset about?
04 Sep 2026 10:56:27
Considering we have no money, and penny pinching on trying to reduce the going prices on potential purchases, and then spend £12 million on wages just doesn't add up for me.
04 Sep 2026 11:13:34
But he was free, Uran. Those who cost a fee will also be receiving a few million in wages on top. I can't see a problem.

Yes, but they become an asset of the club on the balance sheet.
Don't get me wrong, I am delighted that we have a player of Jack's quality, but it doesn't add up when we missed out on a quality RB and quality N9 by trying to reduce the agreed price and then for others to take advantage.

That is amazingly cheap for a player of his quality, not forgetting if he performs well, a freebe next season for £15 mill (wages) .

I agree with you all, but we have all been crying out for a Rb and a striker. We lost out because we didn't have the money, but we could find 12 million to rent a player.
Maybe it's because we are only one paying weekly or monthly for him, which then probably makes a bit of sense, but it's still a £12 million loss on the balance sheet for next season.

It is added to the wage bill. It is an expense, part of our overall costs, not a loss.

I get what you're saying, Uran, but if we get him next season after his contract is finished with City, then he will have value.
We would have had a new striker if he passed a medical and if we had started bidding a day or two earlier.
It's worth noting that the American lad has been left out of Monaco's European squad due to injury. Are they expecting him to be out for a while?
04 Sep 2026 16:25:33
And matchday squad for foreseeable future, dodged a bullet. It would appear the late arrival of his medicals from Monaco was a bit of reticence perhaps!!!

I don't think it's because we don't have the money. Remember, we were about to splash £40m on a player before they ditched us last minute.
