Elvis are you the bobble?

20 Aug 2025 21:35:47
I hope Elvis is correct, we need to get someone in before the next game. I hope that Moyes stops messing about and plays Barry and Grealish from the start and also Dibling if he arrives in time. I know that the usual thinking is that new players need bedding in but they can't be any worse than the team that lost to Leeds who if you believe it, have been practicing together for months. A number of them played like they had never met their colleagues before.

{Ed025's Note - i get where you are coming from Mike, the recruitment has been poorer than expected i would say and the Pre-season was a disaster and that meant we were not ready or focused for that first game mate, we need to get our act together smartish or it could be a very long season..

We can't throw players in out of panic, as much as I want to see improvement and your absolutely right when you say they're better than what we have. But throwing them in without integrating properly runs the risk of them doing just as bad as the rest have been doing, knocking their confidence and dragging them down to the rest of the teams level. We want them totally comfortable before they start games to make the most difference, Moyes knows what he's doing in that aspect. He just needs to get players through the door ASAP to get the process going as quick as possible.

{Ed025's Note - im not being funny WB but dont you think thats what pre-season is all about mate?, late recruitment and a shambles of an American tour means we are way behind where we should be mate..

Harrison Armstrong needs to be considered for the Brighton game kids full of running and can play a bit aswell.

20 Aug 2025 22:50:46
My take on this is players don’t want to join us as they know bigger and better clubs are out there. The only way of combatting this is to pay over the odds, which has severely smashed us over the past few years. It makes things very hard.

20 Aug 2025 22:55:52
Can we stop this players need this players need that crap. If there good enough they should play and if there not we shouldn’t have bloody bought them.

Ed025, I agree with your message about our recruitment being bad and preseason being terrible, meaning we are not ready for the start of the season. But how many times have you posted that and us as fans have said that same thing, the past 10-15years? Every year now we are playing catch up. The club are so frustrating, the positions we need players for are the same positions every year. I wouldn't be surprised if Brighton turn us over again, like they did at the start of last season. Then as usual each game gets bigger and bigger as we are struggling in or just above relegation.

{Ed025's Note - its so frustrating Joe, even Moyes has gone public on the fact that the recruitment has not been good enough mate, its my own fault because i was expecting this new dawn with the new owners and new ground and that the past was behind us, but no its the same old Everton im afraid..

If you go for 2 jobs, you'll have your hopes pinned to 1. But when you get the rejection letter and then an offer from the 2nd one starts to look attractive. It's just the same here. Of course players want money but they want to play in the biggest comps and then they want to be assured of minutes. Most players have unshakeable self belief. But when the agent informs them that the dream move is gone, they quickly reevaluate and less attractive options become realistic. Until the window is closing and squads are full, players will always dream big. No club in history has had money to spend but was unable to spend it. We will spend all of the budget and secure all available loan spots. 5 or 6 to come still.

Ed, I'm so with you on that, I was at BM to watch the Roma game and put the negatives on the back burner and expected a performance against Leeds.
I was so looking forward to Monday night thinking of a new dawn. Though I would have been happy if they had played with passion and promise. ?.

{Ed025's Note - i was so disappointed Lhr, i was not expecting miracles mate but what i did want to see was passion, fight and a modicum of game management but i seen very little of that on Monday, i know its early days and i was probably over the top with some of my comments but thats what passion does to you i suppose..

It's a long season. Better to get the right players, however long it takes, and build something for the future where we don't need 10 in during the window next time. The showing at Elland Road was pathetic, but it's just one game (plus, I know, the awful preseason) . I'm optimistic new faces will arrive and the new dawn is still to come; unfortunately we still can't see it in the dark of the new midnight, which admittedly looks an awful lot like the old midnight.

I do agree with you whole heartedly Ed, I just think now we're in the position were in (even though we shouldn't be in the position in the first place) its not a great idea to rush new signings on to the pitch if Moyes things they need to settle in a bit first mate.

{Ed025's Note - imo WB we should not be rushing now mate...we should have been rushing at the start of the window..

22 Aug 2025 18:33:04
On that we most definitely agree. I think they waited until July to be in the new financial year, but then we should have really been pushing for it.
