I keep coming in here looking for news and it's just the same names over and over with no movement on deals. I was really confident a couple of weeks ago and now I'm getting nervous. I can't believe we still haven't got a RB and RW, we've only needed players in those positions for the past 5 years now. Arguably we need 2 in each.
{Ed025's Note - i think we are all saying the same Chris, this new dawn we all expected has not come to fruition and we all feel let down (again), different owners same old Everton and i dont know what these scouts, DOF etc are doing but the fact is its just not good enough mate, no disrespect but when the likes of Sunderland are buying more and better players than us then of course questions will be asked, 10 days to go and now the panic starts..

Wasting all our time with all our eggs in 1 basket it seems. 10 days left to get 2 or 3 perm signings and then 2+ loans. I just don't see there being enough time to get all these deals done before the deadline. I think we will be lucky to get 1 perm and 2 loans in before deadline day now. I really hope they have a plan A, B and C for the right side that they can get done.

Im with you Chris, everyday that passes i'm feeling less confident in signing anything other than leftovers, if anything at all, while I look at other clubs who have their house in order.

Hang in there boys this is Everton you know they don't do anything quickly. I mean even the team play at a slow pace, so even if we get new signings in it will take a few weeks to knock any enthusiasm out of them. Patience is needed here till we have a team ready to play passive football. Remember only the best is good enough.
Think that probably said only George Best is good enough but got lost in translation.

My thoughts, for what they’re worth, is that we’ll have had many enquiries knocked back for many players and will have been in for lots of the players that have moved to other teams. All this means is that we’re working our way down the list from top targets to others. Within this, we’ll be looking for good value, and this often comes in the last week of the window as selling clubs get desperate to offload. I understand the frustration but I do feel that some people’s expectations are a little skewed, especially baring in mind our position in the last few windows. We have spent, we have improved, still plenty to do and I think we’ll do it. Hold tight.
{Ed025's Note - you could well be right JB and i hope you are, but you cant blame the fans for being nervous mate, we have been to hell and back for 5 years now and all the expectations we had for this season seem to have gone tits up, a very poor pre-season, very slow recruitment and a manager telling us that we dont have the players to progress (yet) means its not the best of starts for us, things will improve i have no doubt about that but we dont want to be continuously looking up from the lower reaches of the league, lets start putting it together starting on Sunday...COYB..

I certainly understand the concerns from fans, Ed. First and foremost, we need to see a reaction on Sunday from the players we have already. Get Grealish in, hopefully Myky back too, maybe Barry for Beto, see what he’s got, and we see where we are on Monday.
{Ed025's Note - yeah im all for that JB, i just hope we are more up to speed than we were on Monday mate, 3 points would be brilliant and for me even a point would suffice but we do need to get something to kick start our season..

It's a fault of the scouting team in my opinion. You can only go for players who you think will come.
Brighton, Sunderland, Bournemouth, Brentford (with all respect due) do not have the history or fan base like we do but they accept that and scout players and get them in before they have been picked up by others or have ideas above their current station.
We try and get A listed players and wonder why they turn us down.

There seems to be something very undesirable about our club. What is it? Can't be the place because Liverpool attract them. Can't be Europe because Sunderland attract them, can't be money as Moyse says we have money. Is it us?

I think that's the way we have conducted business as well JB, looking for value but being subbed for other teams or having the players holding out on us whilst they discuss their preferred option elsewhere. But then as Quacker says, we should have had more realistic targets. You're both right really, but with 10, almost 9 days left, I just can't see 4 or 5 players (including loans) all deciding on Everton and all the discussions and paperwork going through in time.

All fair points, think we can all agree it’s left us in the position of needing to do a lot of business in a short time which doesn’t appear to be our strong point. I do believe it’ll be a busy week though.
