Ricardo Pepi being linked with us from PSV, looks like he knows where the back of the net is.

Agree3 Disagree0

Yuri FW is better.

They would both be an upgrade on what we have mate.

I think he's another risk and not what we need, but big name in America so would at least be a smart business from a commercial standpoint.

I wouldn't want either coming in tbh. Both will be around 30+ million and would represent a sideways move or worse for me. Much smarter signings out there and likely cheaper.

Go an get one of the Hoffenheim lads, although Asllani may be 6 months too late, as the likes of Bayern, Dortmund and Barcelona sniffing around now. Lemperle aka Big Dunc it is then.

They all know where the back of the net is. Trouble is they struggle to put the ball there.

GB - how would they be an upgrade?

As we’re seeing with both Beto and Barry it’s not that easy to settle into the league.

Why do you think it would be any different for the players you mention as being upgrades?

It’s more than likely they’ll take time to adjust and that’ll set us further back.

If it’s a choice between another striker joining with no premier league experience or sticking with what we have, I’d rather stick with Barry and Beto.

GD is spot on there tbf.

Nothing I have seen of Alberto or Pepi indicate to me that they would do well in the PL. You may as well call it a different sport due to the difference in quality of defenders and more importantly GK's in the PL. No way do they get the chances in the PL that they get in their respective leagues.

Don't get me wrong, I think we should sell Beto if we have the chance because we know what he is and he has regressed if anything. Barry on the other hand, although I don't see him as a natural finisher, is showing improvement in his all-round game and has previous proof or his scope for improvement whilst at his past teams and he is still young enough to retain value etc.

There isn't anyone in the PL that we can realistically bring in other than Strand Larsen and Wolves will want minimum 40m for him. He has also fallen off a cliff from last season, albeit probably due to how bad Wolves are.

If you look across the whole of Europe there are not many goalscorers around. I think Brentfords lad currently sits as the 3rd top scorer in Europe, behind only Haaland and Mbappe which says it all really. It is a bit of an impossible task to bring one in.

I would rather go out to Europe and get a player that has multiple facets to his game, that can bring the best out of the players around him, whilst being a goal threat himself, a' la Bobby Firmino.

I would love us to go after Lemperle. Hoffenheim have multiple forwards, so I think they would already be set to lose him. He is a good age, is built for the PL, good movement in the box, good finisher and great in the air. Most importantly he has good feet and can pass well, meaning that he could link up with our attacking players well.

The lad is built for Everton and the fans would love him. One touch finishing like Jelavic but Big Dunc in the air. Get him signed up immediately Blues!

Both have a far better goal average per game mate.

Slightly unfair to compare imo mate. Pepi is playing in the Eredivisie and Alberto has been in Brazil his entire career bar a short spell at Zenit where he flopped. In contrast Barry has played in arguably the 2 hardest leagues in the world.

There are a few strikers struggling in the PL this year and some that have far more experience plying their trade in it than Barry.

Evanilson
Muniz
Cunha
Isak
Stand Larsen

I personally don't think he is the no9 for us but I would rather allow him the opportunity to improve and get better and think getting the 2 mentioned in would be at most a sideways move but probably a backwards one. Not only that, we would have to fork out the same amount of money as Barry cost us.

02 Jan 2026 18:59:24
We won’t get a striker from the Premiership mate so who knows how good they will be.

03 Jan 2026 16:03:46
Nobody knows how good they’ll be GB and that’s my point.

You’re saying they’d both be an upgrade but there is absolutely know way of knowing if that’s the case.

Regardless of how well they’re doing in respective leagues, transferring that to the premier league is no guarantee.

January we can’t be throwing money at unproven players as it’s a notoriously difficult window to buy in with prices higher than should be and there’s also no time to allow players to integrate with the squad.

This window we should be looking at picking up a couple of loans or cheap players (those nearing end of contract or out of contract) that will add a bit of quality to the squad rather than splashing cash on more potential and unproven players.
