If it's a straight swap, as reported, for no extra money, I'd take that. Get rid of McNeill, who offered no threat, and whilst Johnson didn't set world alight at Palace, he's got pace to burn, which McNeill hasn't. Hopefully, imo, we get this one over the line as it's a no brainer if no extra fee.

Total waste of time for me. Johnson has pace and nothing else. McNeil, for all his faults, could at least pop up with a goal from nothing or put in a half decent corner.

Only thing in our favour is McNeil is in his last year and will leave on a free next summer.

The only positive I can see is that McNeil gets the move he wanted and good luck to him.
Palace paid £35M for him in January, and there's a reason they are willing to swap for a player valued at £20M, and it's exactly the same reason we have been looking to offload Barry.
It's because he's crap.
Why have Yilmaz when you can have Brennan Johnson.

I think this is an excellent piece of business, swapping out the scapegoat of the team for a pacey winger with good returns. In 3 of his 5 seasons in the Prem, he has gotten over 10 combined g+a, more than any of our wingers in that period, (one of the other seasons he only played 3 games) .
We all know we need pace and he has it. He was not as good last year, but getting him in for a player no one wants to even see on our bench and is a year younger seems an excellent move for me.

I'd rather take the money for McNeil and use it to add to the kitty for players. However, I'm unsure we have anyone in the pipeline we can sign.
Why does it feel like we are now looking at loans as our final business of this window?
