We walked away from the Delap deal a couple of days ago after Chelsea made it clear they wanted a sale for the player, not a loan. We only wanted a loan deal for the player & were unprepared to pay the price and will now look elsewhere for other targets.
Beto will now only be sold if a suitable replacement can be found in time… for me this is all totally unacceptable as the club should of known now for quite some time that we’ve been in desparate need a top drawer proven striker to be got in… in beggars belief… if us fans can all see it then why can’t the board? Delap was never going to be the answer for us, so now all hands to the pump right at the very end of the transfer window once more, do we ever learn?

I would love to be proved wrong, but I believe we will be looking at loans and the cheapest options on deadline day.
Who would be interested in either Barry or Beto unless they are at the end of their contracts?
Our best option would be to sign either Brentford or Brighton's scouts/ recruitment department, because ours are obviously pants.

Richy coming home?

Let's hope so mate.

Of course we are scrambling for deals and loans towards end of transfer window because we haven't got money of Big Six!
50 million for Delap would've been madness, so I'm so happy we walked away.
Look at Villa, even getting into Europe, they are having to shift their best players to be financially secure and compliant!
Buying young players, ie Aznou, Dibling, Rohl and Hackney, is the way to go.
I still feel we will strengthen before end of window, but feel too many fans gave unrealistic expectations as to where we are financially.
If we get a top 10 finish this season, which I think we will, Hey ho.
UTFT!

Deer God - Spurs desperate to get rid of Richarlison - why do we want him - he's not a number 9 which is what we need - forget about him please.
25 Aug 2026 22:07:53
Totally agree, sobs. Was ok for Everton, but he isn't the same player, and it would be a massive risk re-signing him and a mistake.

Apparently George has played as a 9. Richy would be good (if he leaves the sulking at Spurs) playing on/from the left.

We are definitely not there on the financials yet, next summer the increased revenues of the new stadium will be on the accounts.
It's part of the reason we have been pushing contracts to include add ons to kick the funds down to future years.
I expect some loans with options/obligations to stretch our finances, and that's why we are having to keep our powder dry until the end of the window when some selling clubs will want to move players on to get the wages off their books.
Richarlison might be one as Spurs have to trim some of their players.
Not that I will be doing cartwheels for him, but Jesus will likely see his price fall, being in the final year of his contract.
With Arsenal acquiring Konsa, I could see a late deal for Ben White being possible, but he's costly.

Just wanted to clarify that Spurs (especially De Zerbi) want to keep Richarlison but Richarlison wants the move back to us. They're certainly not desperate to get rid of him. There's an interview with De Zerbi stating he'd like Richarlison to stay at Tottenham but the Brazilian wants a move away. It's no secret that he wants a move back to us.

I know we haven't got the money the Big Six have. But remind me, who's paying £50m for Delap?
Don't get me wrong, I don't want him, as he's never really shown an interest when we have. But I'm not sure it's a money thing.
If the CEO says we have 70% of our business yet to do, what's he funding it with?
26 Aug 2026 10:27:05
Surely 70% done 30% to do. The 70%, of course, could refer to out and in.
26 Aug 2026 10:54:49
Also, you don't need money of the Big Six to secure deals.
If we had a modicum of imagination, we would find good deals outside of the country.
Brighton have just bought another in for under 10m from Young Boys.
The deals are out there. We just lack the gumption to go and source them.

Very true, dms. It does have the ring of ins and outs now, I think of it.
26 Aug 2026 19:24:04
That is a load of tosh. You are talking a business worth millions. Naive to believe this Club or any other of this stature do not watch/search the whole market for players.
