Ed, is this Yarmolenko deal actually going to happen? Seems to me as though he could turn into the latest Riquelme with us being linked every week until he finally moves. Cheers.

KOblue

{Ed025's Note - i know what you mean KO, there are so many reasons why we wont sign him that im not banking on it at all mate..

Hey Eds, wondering if there's any interest in Ivan Perisic? I know there was supposed interest in the past, looks like he could be a great coup - especially with how well he's playing at the Euros.

KOblue

{Ed091's Note - nope

Anyone else read Merson's column about Martinez? Normally I can't stand him, but he's absolutely spot on about Roberto in my opinion. My patience is almost up with him, we deserve better.

Read it earlier ko good read and good to see national press righting negative stories about this fraud that has infiltrated our club the only club in the league that can be accused of being lamb dressed as mutten.

2.) 30 Jan 2016 07:10:38
Where can I read this?

3.) 30 Jan 2016 08:21:08
Read it and like others don't normally take notice of PM but he is spot on about RM this time and like me amazed at how RM continually gets away with it. Thing is we will beat Carlisle and RM will come out and say phenomenal, excited etc! and the media luvvies will all agree with him. The thing is it doesn't have to be like this, all Roberto has to do is let common sense take precedence over pride. What is wrong with the ball into row z, the long ball, or taking the ball into the corner at certain times and in certain matches in order to close the game down. That is all we ask Roberto.

Before I start, I understand the chances of this happening are incredibly slim, but just a thought. What are the chances of Klopp becoming Everton manager? His agent has said that he would be interested in a move to the prem, and not only to a top 4 team. Dortmund weren't the greatest when he took over them, so it seems a little viable right? Or am I crazy?

KOblue

1.) 10 Jun 2015 06:08:24
Sorry, you're crazy!

2.) 10 Jun 2015 09:12:12
Mad as a hatter mate

3.) 10 Jun 2015 14:49:23
2 Slices short of a loaf. If Klopp took over nothing would be phenomenal ever again, sorry l'm not having that.

4.) 10 Jun 2015 20:29:11
the fraud is here to stay!

Talking to my mate who is an Arsenal fan earlier. He seems to think Wilshere is better than McCarthy, which I completely disagree with. And furthermore, he has the cheek to say that McCarthy wouldn't get in the Arsenal team. Just wondered what some of you thought about the whole Wilshere vs McCarthy debate.

KOblue

{Ed025's Note - its not even a debate KO, i edit the arsenal site and most of them really rate mccarthy, im afraid jack has been a perennial under achiever mate..

1.) 28 May 2015 17:04:33
Think its well known how much I despise arsenal so I will keep it nice as possible. Wilshere isn't overrated or someone who never reached his potential. He is, in fact, awful. Heres why, here is what wilshere does, he sprints forward 5 yards (with his tongue out, god knows why) and passes sideways then keeps running with his tongue out until he runs into someone. He then, if the player is smaller than him, will act hard and square up to him. If not, like he did with barkley, yacob, dembele, kompany and huddlestone (thats not me exaggerating either, he literally flapped it off each of these players) he will stay down and act injured, sometimes he is injured. But the whole running 5 yards thing? According to 'experts' like keown he is 'creating space' and is a world class player because of it. Now let's compare, passing, like I said, wilshere 5 yard passes, genius, oh and if you want to mention that pass he did when arsenal beat someone 3-0 or whatever (i can't remember who against) then please do, darron gibson did that same pass on his weaker foot whilst falling over against tottenham. Mccarthy's passing is good and accurate, not paul scholes esq but good. Tackling, not up for debate, mccarthy is an incredible tackler. Energy, haha, mccarthy runs the london marathon before and after games if he wanted to. Strength, mccarthy is a strong lad (ask aaron ramsey whom he put on his arse last season) and wilshere got pushed over by steven pienaar. Pace, mccarthy is quick, wilshere is quick, over 5 yards. Sort of even but wilshere is a cocky and arrogant guy so i'm going to give it to mccarthy for that reson. They are in dreamland if they believe jack wheelchair is even in the same universe as mccarthy. Read daily mail comments by them on bellerin, try to contain laughter. Here is one I will quote, the persons name is 'giroud sucksss' and he said the following (to 300 thumbs up, arsenal fans love a vote) 'hector bellerin is already the best full back in the premier league and will go on to be the best right back of all time, he is much better than phillip lahm, dani alves and zabaleta'. Its no wonder they were voted most deluded fans in the league. It would kill me if players like stones went there. I would rather he went to city or chelsea than arsenal. As they would add it to the list of players they (didn't) develop like ramsey, walcott and oxlade chamberlain. I wouldn't take any notice what they say mate.

{Ed025's Note - you never have a nice word about anybody though swan, arsenal are my second team as they are a proper club and play football the right way, and i can tell you their supporters are quality on here as well mate..

2.) 28 May 2015 17:38:36
Hey no doubt, I think every clubs supporters are class on this. They have always been in the same bracket as utd fans in terms of picking and choosing which players they want (as though they will definitely get them) and act as though the world owes them a favour. Every fan is biased towards their club but arsenal fans take it to the extreme, I mean, giroud better than suarez and aguero? Bellerin already better than lahm? Or my favourite, coquelin better than toure and matic? Come on. If their your second team then that's fine, I just don't like them, from their fans to their players. Very unlikeable bunch imo.

3.) 28 May 2015 17:40:57
I am sorry Ed025 but Tikatak football is not the right way! especially in the premiership, if it was, Arsenal would win the league every year.

It is boring and tiresome. Football is about getting the ball into the box and creating chances, Not overworking it then losing the ball.

The reason we where so good in the first 6 months of Martinez's reign was we still played with Moyes's defence and tempo, and slowly Martinez beat it out of them!

Anyway Wheelchair (made me laugh Swanny) wouldn't make it passed McCarthy Barkley Mirallas or Besic/Gibson, and I agree! I would not like to see our kids go to the graveyard of young English talent

{Ed025's Note - they do play a type of tik-a taka SDS but its with pace, not like the passing backwards and sideways that we have been doing mate..

4.) 28 May 2015 20:45:27
Although I do believe he is slightly overrated, your assessment is a bit ott Swan. The lad has got talent, we have all seen it in a game or two. The problem he has is with injuries, he will never be able to showcase his real talents if he can't get enough games to become consistent. With regards to their fans, each club is the same. All have reasonable people as well as the idiots, Everton has got both too.

{Ed025's Note - your right spud..

5.) 28 May 2015 21:01:23
Personally think Wiltshire is a cracking little player, his problem is he's prone to injury. As for him and Macca, I would love to see them play together, (for us of course) think they would be a great partnership.

6.) 28 May 2015 23:03:23
of course every fan has those types of people spud, its just I don't see too many of those fans of chelsea, city or hell even liverpool. With arsenal and utd its the majority (that I know about, not saying the majority of the arsenal fan base is like that). As for wheelchair, we will have to agree to disagree, he's in a similar bracket to rodwell for me (who I've spoken about before) in the sense of I don't know what it is he does, like cleverley.

7.) 29 May 2015 09:48:39
Sorry Swan I have to disagree, IMO Wilshere when he had a run of games did look a good player but as he plays for the Arse and is always injured its a mute point what we think. As for Rodwell he did look like he may have developed into a decent CB would IMO would have had to stayed with us to reach his potential but he didn't. I do agree with you on Cleverly though. let's hope he signs for Villa as Sherwood like him.

Regarding the whole Garbutt situation. The reason he could be on his way out is because of a lack of playing time - which is mainly down to Baines being 1st choice left back. Does nobody else reckon Baines could be converted to a CDM similarly to Lahm at Bayern? I think he'd do a pretty good job there. He can defend, pass, has good vision, and is great coming forward. This would also provide oppurtunity for Garbutt to nail down the left back position. Just something that's been going through my head for the past couple of months, thoughts?

Cheers.

KOblue

1.) 01 May 2015 01:37:09
I'm not sure Baines is actually good enough to convert. Although great for us he's never been a world class footballer; certainly not in Lahm's class. Personally I would drop Baines now and state that Garbutt is #1 and just hope its not too late to keep him. I would have done that a couple of months ago to be honest. Baines' abilities are weakening with age.

2.) 01 May 2015 07:06:48
I have never seen Lahm good for CM. Player like Backham who play for 180 degree difficult to convert for 360 degree playing.

3.) 01 May 2015 08:58:44
since when could baines defend? i'd sell baines asap, he's been under par for the last 3 seasons.

{Ed025's Note - thats harsh swan, 18 months ago he was the best left back in europe mate..

4.) 01 May 2015 09:11:32
Baines was two years late being first choice left back as Moyes always preferred Lescott in the role, Baines is an out and out left back not CM or LM, he is on the wain but can still deliver a great cross ball. Not sure WTF has gone on at the club with penalties he is one of the best end of! also not sure last time he scored a direct free kick either, but his assist record is better than most midfielders.
However all said and done Garbutt has waited long enough and really deserves an opportunity.

5.) 01 May 2015 09:13:58
i disagree but either way, something needs to be done, we can lose garbutt and stick with a 31 year old baines while garbutt goes on to be one of the best left backs in the league. one must go.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know why 1 has to go swan, garbutt is the heir apparent, and with brian suffering yet another setback we will need both of them this coming season mate..

6.) 01 May 2015 10:25:16
because both will want regular game time and martinez has proved he would rather play a half fit baines than a fully fit on form garbutt. while I agree both are needed, I can't see garbutt waiting until baines retires in 5 years time to play regularly.

7.) 01 May 2015 12:51:42
I'm not sure about baines as a cdm. He just seems to be a pure left back, nothing else. Garbutt is heir to the left back throne, and will get more game time next season if he stays. I'm not sure, but can't garbutt also play left centre half?

8.) 01 May 2015 14:59:07
Baines is a left and still the best in the Premier League. He is one of our most potent threats and in the early defensive disasters this season he was the one that didn't come in for criticism.

Garbutt is still a long way off being anywhere near Baines. Some of you are are just getting carried away that he is this world beater. He's young and inexperienced and will make plenty of mistakes.

I want tried and trusted with a good start next season that gives us a platform for a shot at the CL places. I don't want any risks taken. If that means the lad doesn't get games early on then so be it. I care more about where we finish next season than giving him a few games to keep him happy.

9.) 01 May 2015 19:12:46
I'm with bluejohn on this for me Baines will be first choice next season and rightly so I do think him and garbutt can play the left side together if needed which would give garbutt more game time also think Baines could push inside to play cm but maybe season after however must keep hold of garbutt and think we will

{Ed025's Note - i do too coby mate..

10.) 01 May 2015 20:45:46
Garbutt should be happy that he's at everton learning from one of the best in the business. Because that's what baines is. I think leightons ability can be his worst enemy sometimes. Because we all know he's capable of the extraordinary we shoot him down when he doesn't do it. Even when he's having a bad game he's still better than most other left backs out there

{Ed025's Note - fair point kingy..

11.) 02 May 2015 10:25:01
Garbutt needs to realize that he could leave but if it's to one of the top 5 clubs he's unlikely to be in a better position than he is at Everton where due to the age of Baines he will almost certainly become first choice in 1 probably 2 years then he's got maybe 11-12 years at the top barring injuries although his agent is probably looking for a payday so who knows.

12.) 02 May 2015 14:21:31
Again, Swan, where is the stats that prove he has been below par for the last 3 seasons? This season yes, as have the majority, but there is no truth to what you say. In at least one of the last 3 seasons, he has had the most assists for a full back throughout Europe. Garbutt, although he looks like he will turn out to be a fine player, has a long way to go to get to that level. I want him to stay but, if he decides that the grass is greener elsewhere, I'll be happy that we have both LB and BO to call upon for the full back spot. 31 isn't too old in today's game, they look after themselves properly unlike in years gone by. As someone stated further up, LG should be grateful that he is at a club like ours. It is up to him to keep the others out when he gets his chance and, so far, he hasn't done enough to keep out international players. He needs to bide his time not chase pound notes
