Evening all.

I just wanted to get your views on Thelwell potentially leaving at the end of the season.

2 Questions:

1) If true is it good news?
2) has he done a half decent job.

Just so you don’t think I’m sitting on the fence here are my answers:

1) I’d like to see what he can do with a bit more money, so think he should stay for at least two more windows.

Because:

2) I think that some of the signings have been pretty decent considering two big factors. The obvious financial restraints and that it would have been hard to make any signings shine under the last manager.

This is just my view on things.

{Ed025's Note - you make some good points Benny, im sitting on the fence on this one, done quite well considering the points you point out mate but has made a few howlers..

Agree1 Disagree0

I think Freidkin will move him on, new broom ans all that.

{Ed025's Note - it certainly looks that way GB..

The question I have is Is his best good enough? We can’t accept anything less than that if we are to move up the league. Moyes wants Europe and DoF has to have the same goal, then crucially deliver a squad that can get there.

If there’s any doubt then he shouldn’t be our guy.

Only Freidkin can decide who stays and who goes, sure all positions will be looked at.

Thelwell contract is up and Club restructuring end of season. Thelwell got us out of the PSR mire and for that we should thank him. Transfers: on the fence.

{Ed025's Note - we should thank him dms, not everything was a success of course which is par for the course for a DOF, but it was very trying times for the guy with Covid, PSR and having a dinosaur as our manager mate..

I think he done okay but if we can get ashworth surely we have to take that chance.

It is a normal and typical recruitment of a key person in any organization. Thelwell is out of contract so he will be one of the candidates, as will others that the search will uncover. If Thelwell is deemed to be the best candidate he will get the job, if not it will go to someone else providing they are available and happy to join. So Thelwell will get the job if he is the best candidate or by default if nobody deemed to be better wants the job. Of course if that happens Thelwell might get a better offer in which case we will be left without a paddle!

Is Dan Asworth better than Therwell? How come Utd got rid of him after 5 months? Didn’t he do much at Newcastle?

Didn’t we have a supposedly world class DoF in Brands? Has Weir done anything to warrant going for him?

I’m not sure with the DoF role. Like Ed says: Therwell has signed some stinkers as well as some promising players. Is it just the same horse with a different jockey?

Not keen of ashworth at all surely we can do better? Look at all the crap he bought this season for united on stupidly high wages, de ligt has to be one of most overrated players of all time surely? I’m sure he’d cost a pretty penny too, who did we have last time Moyes was in charge?

02 Mar 2025 19:51:13
Wasn’t it just Moyes?

No idea br.
