I think he'd be ideal for a couple of seasons, with someone like Kofane also. Of course, Barry would have to go (bring in a new tea lady and Barry would have to go!) .
He still knows where the net is, and would give us a blend of youth and experience, and could come off the bench if we need a goal, hopefully not in the 92nd minute.
I think we tried to get him in January but he was injured. He hasn't played in the Premier League for a few seasons, would this put Moyes off?

Did anyone see him play for Belgium? He just stands in one place and doesn't move. What on earth would we want him? He can't even get in the team he's at in a weaker league, and some think he will do a job in the fastest league in the world. Do me a favour, save the wages and find someone young.

He played something ridiculous like less than 200 minutes all last season. Considering he wasn't fit, he had a big impact on Belgium. Yes, he just stood up top, but he upset every defender and made them all work.
He dragged em through 2 games. These are facts. A mildly fit RL is better than Delap, Beto and Baz all playing at the same time. A season deal would be perfect, but I'd think a big last mega Saudi deal is surely where he's at?

Agree 100% with Skylark. I don't understand the obsession with ex players. It's very backwards thinking and lack of imagination and foresight. Just because they were ok in the past doesn't mean anything. It's negative, and I don't understand that mentality. We've got to be ambitious.
What clubs have succeeded from a similar position to us by bringing back ex players?.. It doesn't work. We need fresh exciting talent. Yes, I know that's easier said than done, and there has to be an element of reality in my desires for the club, but it's also no excuse to go shopping in the bargain basement, delving through the crap for cheap arse seconds.
We're not going to be challenging for silverware overnight, it's small steps and we have to be patient and have a modicum of faith in the recruitment team, they are not idiots and know what we need, it's simply difficult to attract the players we need in some instances, that is the reality.
We may get lucky with players, but we may also be unlucky, again reality of the market. But we should not be looking at players who are on their way out and who may have been a club favourite in the past. It's time for us to change that mentality, be more positive and look to the future..
