It all starts from team selection, get it wrong and you are up against it from the start, we are still unbeaten which in one positive to take from the game but for me we should be beating hull, moyes won't change, we have talked about it over and over and it won't be le last time,

Plays for a draw so its mission accomplished for him.

What utter rubbish the players let him down not the tactics wake up.

He chooses the team mate.

He picked the players? I think you are in the minority pasty.

Have to agree Bluepasty, Barry the biggest of all should have had at least a hat trick, AMN and Tarks were poor as well, the players definitely let DM down.

That's the first goals they have conceded at home isn't it? Barry should have put us out of sight, if he finished some of those chances we would have won comfortably. Two mistakes cost us goals.
Here's a breakdown of the game stats
We had 65% possession.
15 shots, 7 on target.
6 big chances missed.
Accurate passes 511, with 86.9% accuracy.
Hull only bettered us at corners and cards. So, on reflection, that team selection should have won that game, especially if we didn't make 2 costly defensive errors and if Barry could finish his dinner. He scored the hardest one of the lot!

Maybe he shouldn't have started with Barry then and picked the players in the correct position along the back 4.

Picks the team and the tactics plays for a draw every away game.

Defence let us down as well as Barry, better 2nd half.

It was ANM who made mistakes that lead to goals, I think everyone would have started with him. Barry is our only forward and should have buried Hull himself today. It wasn't on the team selection, as the stats show, it was down to individual errors and poor finishing that cost us 2 points.

I can see both sides to the argument. Moyes is too pragmatic and constantly gives the opposition too much respect. But the chances were there today to score at least 5 goals. Poor selection? Maybe. But we only have one striker so it's him or nothing.
But we could have picked better players around him and we didn't. So I wouldn't disagree with anyone who said he picks a team that won't lose rather than a team that's set up to attack and possibly win.
It's what you get with Moyes. He's not changing but right now given the state of the squad size I'm prepared to put up with it.
Ironically this is my pragmatic view whilst criticising the pragmatic tactics.

Different striker playing up front today and we win 4 or 5 2 guy is a disgrace of a footballer.
11 Oct 2026 17:46:51
Why didn't he just pick someone else to play up front, he playes defenders out of there natural position.
{Ed025's Note - any half decent forward would have got a hattrick for us today Skylark..

Like who? It's easy being a manager from the sofa! JB can play the left back role competently and had a decent game, he was the only one out of his natural position.
Again, the team selected created enough to win the game, we bossed possession, had a good passing accuracy percentage and had more shots on and off target. It was silly mistakes at the back (by a player in his natural position) and poor finishing that cost us the full 3 points. You would have a stronger argument if we created nothing but that wasn't the case today. We should have won against a team that others have struggled against in their own gaff so far this season.
